Default O/T: Weights of trading cards ??

Posted By: Ronald

Just wondering what data has been collected concerning the weights of trading cards. Mostly
interested in post-war weights of standard size
trading cards.

Cheers:)

Default O/T: Weights of trading cards ??

I think it would be an interesting area for someone to look into, possibly for an article for VCBC. Along with some weight ranges for issues, it could discuss practical limitations in the use of weight in judging authenticity and a study of variances (as T206s can vary in size, presumably their are variations in weight).

A related, though less quanitifiable, quality that could also be catalogued is opacity ('see-through' effect).

As Bob Lemke has noted before, some counterfeits can have the correct weight. Weight charts would be helpful for a non-collector to weed out many fakes, but it won't be a be all/end all.
