Default MR X collection...Over rated?

Posted By: joe brennan

As some of you know I have been looking to start a modest collection of T206's . I have done some research and looked at 100's of auctions, both past and running to get a GOOD idea of prices on PSA 3-4 cards and quality of the card inside the slab. Just from my short experience am I the only 1 that thinks the MR X collection is at least 1 sometimes 2 grades over graded? I just cant pull the trigger on the 4's in this collection. BTW, I did pull the trigger on this card. Any thoughts on the collection and this purchase from a rookie. Thanks for the thoughts. joe

You can see plenty of commments regarding his collection on this board.

On the other hand, nice Isbell. I always enjoy dealing with t206-holygrailcollector -- both as a buyer and seller, he is first class.

the mr x collection is just dumb...if its a celebrity tell us who and if he doesn't want us to know, cut out the "x" thing and just sell the cards without the hype.

The card you purchased is nice and I was one of the underbidders.

As far as the Mr. X collection it has been hashed over in other threads with the general concensus that the majority of the cards are over graded.

I personally could give a rat's arse who Mr. X is and have personally decided not to bid on the auction because of all the nonsense.

Lee

Just my thought but I don't think it is Billy Crystal because he is to big of a fan and I don't think he would assemble a collection of such low grade material, he can afford much better. I think Mr. X has to be a "B" list celebrity. And if he is an "A" list celeb then they where probable embarrased to attach there name to such a mediocre collection.

well, if I ever win that damn lotto...you bet I'd been spending big bucks for the highest graded cards that I'd want in my collection....never mind the 3/4/5/and 6's...I'd go after 7/8/and 9's of the biggest cards....but first I have to play the lotto before I can win the lotto!

that is a nice card, but Mr. Isbell has nothing to do with the Black Sox.
