Default What a ridiculous scam...

The idea that this twit is selling fantasy cards that he can't even go though the trouble to make and just buys for a buck and drags across the driveway a few times is annoying.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/38557752830...4AAOSwJcFkO~9k

https://coachhcards.us/shop/ols/prod...-baseball-card

He's even listing multiples and some destroyed cards with fake sharpie autos. Reported, but I doubt they do anything. Nor will these sell for more than the guarantee amount.

At least the fantasy seller put in the effort to make up a new designation of J117, lol.

Making no judgement on the seller of the first link, only an observation about the card itself.

After seeing and growing to really appreciate the artistic aspect of made to look vintage fantasy cards, I'd rather have the aged one than the $1 crisp out of the printer copy. That said, I would spend an amount I was comfortable with, knowing the card was a fantasy piece. Not sure why anyone would spend $80 for that Robinson, especially with the tiny scan. I know what I am getting with a Banty Red card, for example, and would pay a premium for one.

I own several Banty Red and Sporting Life cards and I enjoy them for what they are. I know there are a few others out there making and selling these cards, Helmar is another, but I have yet to be successful in winning one, so I have never seen one of theirs in person.

While I am admittedly a critic of many of the fantasy cards and think the prices these bring are akin to tossing the money in a fireplace, I have no issue whatsoever if they are not made to deceive. It is a free economy and if represented correctly, then anyone can buy whatever they darn well please.

I was only posting for the obvious scam by the eBay seller to portray these as real cards. Although, this is in essence my dislike for the undated fantasy cards in the first place. Many are marketed to deceive buyers either wittingly or more unlikely, unwittingly in the future.

I have seen almost all the undated fantasy creators attempted to be sold as period originals at one time.

That is a good point. The two I named are clearly made to look old, but they either date or note that these are not original "vintage" cards. I agree with you.

I am also a huge fan of custom/fantasy cards and have made many of them. I have made a little bit of everything from vintage looking to new shiny superfractors.

Saying that I absolutely hate the scammers that do not make it clear what they are. The worst for me is the POS that uses an old real card brand that does not date their product.

As for price, they are worth what someone will pay.
