Love that R315 Foxx. The W517 Ruth is cool too. Nice grabs.

Great pick ups so far- too many to mention, but especially the t206s and the Gandil Green-Joyce

These are paid for/checks in the mail, but none are in hand yet... (I can’t get the Crofts Cocoa backpic to post, but it has a clean back)

Well, this appears to be all pre-war cards but I'm going to post my weekend pickup anyhow.
Was actually picking up some junk wax when I asked if there were any other packs at a LCS. Pulled out a few including this one. Wasn't looking for vintage packs but can't pass them up when they are a good deal!! The front of the case needs a good wipe down but otherwise I'm pretty pumped!

It appears to be all prewar because it is the prewar section. No offense meant, but there is another section all about post war cards.

I'm relatively new to the board, and only recently back in the hobby for the last year. My goal for 2019 has been to go full-bore on my very small but growing Chicago Cubs HOF collection. For all pre-WWII Cubs HOF'ers, my goal is to have at least one original card of each player in a Chicago uniform. I figured Cap Anson to be one of the more expensive acquisitions, and frankly have never spent this much on a single card! The rest of the collection will seem much easier to acquire after this one (with the exception of King Kelly's Chicago N172 Old Judge - that one is hard to locate).

It's been a busy few days on eBay.

Cap Anson - 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter
Jim "Hippo" Vaughn - 1916 M101-5 Sporting News
Hack Wilson - 1931 W517
Rogers Hornsby - 1931 W517

Ryan, did you forget REA opens in less than a month, or are you just getting warmed up? Love the cocoa Cobb; great pose, tough back and really tough to find in that condition.

Todd, that Green-Joyce Gandil is my kinda card - a truly-rare, real-photo card. Congrats!

Ryan, every time I see your pickups, I think there is now way that your encores will surpass them - then, your encores usually do! Congrats! I am more and more looking forward to your second "DC area Net54 Show & Tell" that I hope and believe you are planning to organize in the not-too-distant future, because I can't wait to see your new gems up close and personal.

Outside of Ruth and Gehrig, Exhibits still seem fairly inexpensive given the supply. On a whim bought this one.

Default Triple play!

After a slow month in January, I have had a brisk month of February with regards to pickups. These three arrived today.

Picked up a George Gibson T205 with American Beauty back on eBay, then a Billy Sullivan from Sterling Sports Auctions, and lastly another Eddie Ainsmith T207. Weird how my pickups went in American Card Catalog order!

Nice pickup on the Gibson AB, Patrick. I made a half-hearted attempt to pick it up on the cheap simply because they are super rare, but in the end, just drove the price up on you. Sorry about that -- had I known who I was bidding against, I'd have happily settled for only having one, and backed off.

Cheers,

Richard.

This Hands on Hip Johnston finishes of my first of four planned N172 pose runs. I have the same N173 image and two variation OJ's so still a bit of work to do for the master Johnston set. This one wrapped up surprisingly quick!
