Default What's the latest on T206 back multipliers?

Posted By: Chuck P

The more common of the rarer backs; from T206museum.com ..............

AB350 = 2.0
AB460 = 2.5
CB=5.0
Cycle350=2.0
Cycle460=2.5
EPDG=1.3
Hindu=4.0
OM=1.3
PB=1.3
Sov150=1.3
Sov350=1.3
Sov460=2.5
Tolstoi=2.0

Anybody have any substantial disagreement?

How does condition affect your thinking? Would you use the multilier the same for a Fair or G card as you would for a VG or Ex?

chuck- why don't you go ahead and list all of the backs, then we'll discuss...

as a hardcore rare back collector, i can tell you that the prices really jump up significantly the higher the grades.

brian w.- get in here bud!

They don't list blank backs; a red Hindu is 17. I am more interested in the more common ones but feel free to take this where you wish.

If a brown Hindu is a x4, Carolina Brights should be a little higher, maybe a x6 or 7. But the rest of it looks pretty close.

The Ty Cobb back seems a little light on the multiplier.

The EPdG also is a little low, based upon what I've seen - maybe 1.7 to 2.0. On the other side, the Cycle 350 probably isn't quite a 2.0 (1.5-1.7). The rest look about right for mid-grade cards. As Mike said, once you get into the high grade end, the multipliers jump more than that.
Merry Festivus- I'm off to air grievances.

I think the estimates are generally pretty accurate. A few notes might be

1) Brown old mill will get much higher than a 25x special multiplier as they are exceedingly rare.

2) Look for the Ty Cobb back to set you back 5 digits even in junky shape

3) Blank backs are actually not THAT tough for T206s (very tough for T205s). All of them that I've owned or seen have been hand/rough cut. I'd say that you can probably get one for about $300.

4) Agree with Jud on the cycle 350, multiple seems a bit rich.

5) The cost of rare backs tend to rise dramatically with the condition. However, certain rare backs are tougher to find in top shape than others. For example, there are several Broadleaf 460 cards in EX or better, whereas only one known drum exists above a "4".

Are they just higher because they are southern league players most often or what? That 1.3 doesn't seem to fit with the many that I see go through ebay and even on the boards here? What am I missing?
