Makes me want to see the White Sox win their first World Series since 1917..
I'm happy for them, too...I WAS alive in 1959--all the store fronts had TVs in them, and people gathered thickly around them to watch the games.
You guys..you really believe in stuff like--heaven..."Heaven is by favor, not by merit. If it were by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."--Mark Twain.

Watch out--the Old Man will bite you!

If the Astros beat the Cards, which seems likely, the eventual World Series winner will provide us with something that none of us has ever seen in our lifetime, one way or the other (I'm assuming none of the board members are approaching their hundreth birthday and actually recall the 1917 series).

I'm only 27. My dad was 12 in '59. Hopefully I won't have to wait any longer.

I look forward to seeing a 2005 world's championship mirror to go with the 1906 world's championship mirror...

I don't know why people are assuming Jackson and Weaver would be rooting for the White Sox to win. I would think there's a good chance they would be rooting against their former employer.

1917:

Heimie Zimm, Heimie Zimm,
Chasing Collins home,
I'm a faster man than you are, Heimie Zimm.

-- Ring Lardner, I believe (who, also, supossedly, can up with Zimmerman saying "Who was I to throw to, Klem?" and umpire Klem replying, "I was afraid he would.")
