Wrong Factory, & District. Not 1909-1911 like title says. (1909-1918 on GAI label)

There won't be a T206 card inside. Maybe something else. (?)

<<< You are bidding on a 1909-19 Sweet Caporal unopened pack. This has been professionally graded by GAI EX-MT 6. This encapsulated pack was originally manufactured at the time that the T206 cards were produced and inserted inside. The tax stamp adhered to the outside of the box reads "Series of 1910". Which T206 card could be inside? You might pull out a Mint common which sells for a quite a bit by iteslf (check out my other auctions for proof), or you might pull a Cy Young, Frank Chance, Hugh Duffy, Joe Kelley or any other Hall of Famer and trade it for a car! You can also keep it sealed and dream. This would make a terrific addition to any 1909-11 T206 Set or vintage card collection. >>>

Well then T.J. should/must change this description.

This brings up an interesting question. If it was the right factory, district, & state, and the tax stamp was correct, what would it really go for?

I havn't seen a "true" T206 box in a long time. Every one that I've seen doesn't have all the info to really judge the authenticity of the pack. (eBay auctions) Even the ones in Mastronet auctions don't line up. I've seen boxes going for thousands of dollars, but the the boxes don't contain T206 cards. (Mastronet) What do you think the final bid would be for a true unopened T206 box? (If any exist at all?)

Hello all. My ebay poster did as much research as he could, but apparently he was incorrect as I firmly believe you guys know your stuff. Please advise me how to list it correctly, so there won't even be a HINT of impropriety. I pride myself on telling it as it is and will end the auction as soon as I finish typing this. I would sincerely appreciate someone advising me how to list it properly.

Is there even a chance there is some kind of card inside? It is from the correct era. Saw similar packs in a recent Mastro auction. Don't know all the District details as you all seem to, so please help me. I want any item I ever sell to be 100% accurate. Thanks in advance! TJS

You can find the factory, district, & state info here:

http://www.oldbaseball.com/refs/factory.html

Tax stamp date should be 1909-1911. Series of 1909 or 1910. If there is overprinting on the tax stamp, it should have the date of 1910 or 1911.

Mastronet has been listing boxes for some time now that they don't bother to check out themselves either. Don't feel bad. Mastronet should know better.

Edited to add Mastronet comments.

is there any other year the tax stamp could be?????? like you mention about mastronet, i was told different

the reason i ask is because i was told by more than one collector is that tax stamp dates (with earlier years) were used for several years...

There were 2 tax stamps used for T206. (1909, & 1910). 1909 was only used for that year only. 1910 was used up to 1918. I've never seen or heard of an unopened pack dated past 1912 that had a T206 card in it.
