Default Top finds for 2011

Hi all,

I know the year is not yet over...but I thought I'd share some of my highlights..

my best find was "grandpa's collection" of exhibit cards (60 cards...with over approx 15 HOF's).... which helped to add to my collection of exhibit cards...

some of the good ones included a nice 23-24 Stengel and Gonzalez

more from grandpa...

also made inroads into my type card collecting with my favorite acquisition being 1907 Grignon Post Card. Also added a harder to find 39-46 exhibit of Mike Kreevitch.

I've enjoyed looking at everyone's acquitions this year and I wish all of you the best wishes during the holidays and in the coming year and continued luck in your hunt for those elusive treasures on your want lists! And big thanks to Leon for running such a great place to come visit everyday!

Default Drum Brown

I'd say that Drum 3-Finger would make for a pretty good day at the office...

Cheers,

Default Sometimes................

it pays to troll ebay in the middle of the night. This is my top find of 2011 unless something miraculous happens in the next week or so.

Was also happy to pick up an unused 1912 Stevens Firearms Blotter from TiknTik at The National this summer.

Jeff, I suppose there's still hope, as it's only the 10th, but you have your work cut out for you to even equal that find, let alone surpass it.

Great piece!

Regards,

Richard.

I am always excited to discover a previously unknown Nebraska Indians postcard...the seller did not know these players were from Green's Nebraska Indians..and I had to set my photobucket to private last week so nobody else would figure it out.

I knew as soon as I saw the auction that these guys played for the NI because I already had this postcard in my collection..same uniforms and same exact photo studio.

Great pickups everyone, loving the uncut OBAK (?) sheet, giant Cobb PC and first T205 Drum I have seen!

Started collecting Ts in May, felt I needed to make up for lost time Finding a VG-EX O'Hara in a lot was a memorable one.

Default T206 Two Different Names

My top find of the year was from eBay and it brings the total of (known) T206 miscuts with two different names to 21. This one is Bradley-Bender:

Default Signed T206s

Getting harder and harder to keep getting new signed T206s. I added this Lena Blackburne to my collection in 2011. It's an absolute blazer, including a lush signature -- and it's my only Sovereign signed T206.

Honorable mention for best 2011 finds goes to Mrs. Jane Mathewson and Mrs. Blanche McGraw, originally from the Jeff Morey collection:

CalvinDog ( Jeff). I love that 1910 HC Hubel Postcard of Cobb. First time I've ever seen this postcard or set. Does it come from a set ? Or a stand alone ? Not listed in the Standard Catalog. Thanks Mike

Default KC Blues and Springfield Ponies

These two photos were easily my favorite photo acquisitions this year. Part of a large group I picked up from Paddy O'Connor's estate, which included 8 team photos (KC, Springfield, Bristol, Lynn). Looking forward to sitting down and id'ing the players.

12x14 photo of the KC Blues - contains several T206 players

14x17 imperial cabinet of the Springfield Ponies - I have not had time to begin id'ing these guys yet.

Post-War but here's mine, not sure if anyone had ever seen this one before I picked it up on e-bay. I am aware that Bob Lemke had many of the 1950 Coppedge Studio - Winston Salem Cardinals from that set but not this one............

Phil, did that happen to originate from the Sporting News Archive?

Thanks Phil, looked like some similar items I saw popping up in Lexibell's auctions, but didn't recall seeing a Weaver.

This and a few other notebook covers popped up on ebay this spring. I believe all of them ended up in the Net54 community. It was fun being a part of that "find."
