Default A first: A set completed twice!

On October 21, 2012, I added the 1957 Topps Mickey Mantle to complete the base set of 407 cards for the 1957 Topps set. With this, the set is generally considered complete. I don't. Today, I added the 1957 Topps Checklist 4 / 5 (Blony Version) to finish the complete set! I have the 4 contest cards, the Lucky Penny card (along with the Lucky Penny) It was tougher, and it took me longer to complete the extra cards then the base 407 cards! What a journey!

Awesome! I am currently working on that set....Expecting the Mantle to arrive in the mail Monday.

Not sure I particularly care about the checklists and contest cards....

I am closing in on the 1951 Bowman set, but still need Mays / Mantle, so I want to see how close I can get otherwise. I am currently 5 cards away. (Including Mays / Mantle)

I also want to fill in the 1952 and 1954 Bowman collections. I like these years of Bowman.

How far away are you from the set? The Checklist cards are the toughest I have ever worked on. Tougher then any high number series (except 1952 Topps of course) good luck and please keep me / us updated on your quest. The 1957 Topps set is a classic!

Congrats Tom!! I love the look of the '57 set.

How tough are the checklists / contest cards by any chance? How often do they usually pop up for sale?
