Default 1978 Topps AL All-Star OFs were...

Last night I was racking my brain trying to remember who the AL All-Star OFs were other than Reggie Jackson and Carl Yastrzemski. The third AS Game starter was Richie Zisk, but his card didn't show the AS designation.

Is there a third OF I'm simply blanking on, or is it possible I managed to collect this set as a ten year old, obsess over getting the all-star cards in my packs, and somehow never realize that an AS was missing?

For some reason only 2 A.L. All Star outfielders were designated by Topps that year.

Maybe Topps wouldn't meet Zisk's demands for additional royalties for putting the All-Star shield on his card.....

Topps screwed up the All Star logos almost annually from 1975 to 1981. I think 1977 and 1980 are the only years they labeled all the starters correctly.

Would love to get the specifics. From memory, 1976 had two NL 3B (Cey, Rose), and 1975 was unusual in putting Aaron's NL OF on a Highlights card. What other oddities were there?

From memory,
Reggie in 1975
Freddie Latek in 1979
Rice and JR Richard in 1981

Bobby Murcer's 1975 card has an AL outfielder star but it's a Giants card and he's wearing a badly airbrushed Giants cap.

This one actually wasn't a screw up. When '75 season started Rose was a Right Fielder (and thus put on All Star ballots as an OF). A month into the season, Sparky wanted to get George Foster's bat in the lineup and asked Pete to move to 3b. For '75 All Star game, Pete played the outfield but in the '76 Topps set, they correctly designated him as a third baseman.
