Default Favourite T206 card(s) in your collection

I thought some of you T206 collectors would be interested in sharing some of your favourite cards - not so much for their monetary value but for other reasons. Maybe there's a story behind the subject or a personal story on how you were able to obtain the card, etc.

George Gibson is a member of both the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, so being from the Great White North I have always had a soft spot for this "Mooney" card.

He also played a major role in having the Labatt family purchase Tecumseh Park in London, Ont. and donate it to the city. The ball park, now known as Labatt Memorial Park, is considered the "oldest continually operating baseball grounds in the world".

This would be mine. I love the T206's and this is signed by a Hall Of Famer. This would probably be the only card I keep if I was to liquidate my collection. This is a raw scan. It is slabbed by PSA.

It's difficult to decide which of these 3 cards is my favorite T206. Therefore, I have posted all three.

In 1981, I acquired my first T206 card. Hal Chase has always been my favorite pre-WWI ballplayer.

..

This Walter Johnson image tops all other images in the set.

And, my favorite T206 Ty Cobb with a really tough back.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those three cards.

I have always thought Hal Chase was an interesting character as well.

Thanks for sharing!

That's a very special gift! Strangely, I have yet to add a horizontal to my collection.

And those are a couple cool Griffith cards! I don't believe I have ever come across a Griffith ghost.

Thanks for sharing guys!

One of the first T206's I picked up many years ago. I have always liked the mean glare on Ty's face.

And this one. It took me years to find one centered with a bold red background and perfect registration. The big fat borders were a bonus!

Default Zach Wheats Zach Wheat

This is Zach Wheat from out of Zach Wheats own scrapbook. I have his entire Brooklyn T206 team set from the scrapbook. This one has to be my favorite.

My main project for the last couple years has been trying to get a copy of each 150-350 subject (besides Wagner and Plank) with either a Sovereign, OM, EPDG, or Hindu back. If there is another tough back, like P350 for the elite 12, I try to get that one.

Old Mill is my favorite back, and I recently got a nice group of them from the 350 and 460 series, and decided I will go after all of them.

That Snodgrass letter is great. I especially like the P.S. where he talks about his daughters being at Pearl Harbor on 12/7/41.

Default 4 of my fovorites

I have always loved the cards missing color. The multi-strike was purchased at auction after visiting the auction house and seeing it up close. And a large thanks to Trae Reagan who helped my mission to collect all Piedmont 42's by selling me 5 a few years ago.

Still looking for McIntyre and Tinker in 42's by the way !!

I don't have many t206s, and they don't have much of a story as I just bought them because I like them. But I just love the image and color on the Bat off Shoulder Cobb. It's my favorite now even though I initially sought the green one because of it's value and scarcity.

Great thread.

Johnny that proof is as top shelf as you can go, you definitely earned that one.

Adam, love the multi-strike...plus a front overprint.

I've always liked the oddities and errors side of collecting, uniqueness amongst a pretty common set/area.

Holy smokes, Johnny!

Based on his T206 proofs article from way back, I assumed the Alperman no stripes on cap proof was firmly in the grip of KO. Simply awesome -- for me on par with the Matty proof. You da man!
