Default How do i tell my 1961 Nu-Card Scoops set isn't a reprint set.

Hi, all, I just picked up a VERY nice 1961 Nu-Card set, but want to make sure that these are the originals or not before I do anything with them. How do I tell the difference between the originals and reprints? I can post pics when I get home on Monday if it will help. Thanks in advance! Mike

Hi Mike:

I too recently picked up a set of these. In the set were three cards that had REALLY white card stock. The pictures were also darker with less resolution.

I assume they were the reprints and the seller replaced two of the cards and is looking for the third.

Hope this helps. Post some photos and we'll see if we can help further.

Fred

I had the same problem years ago. I bought a set and it was simply too perfect. The edges still had paper flakes from the cutting process. I wish I could have known it was real, but I couldn't, so I sent it back and bought one I didn't like as well.

I have had no dealings with the reprint sets but I do know that the original 1961 cards are readily available in PSA 9 and 10.

Thanks for the input, everyone. The fellow I purchased them from told me that he bought them in 1974 or 1975. He wasn't aware of any reprints, but who knows. I'll post some pics. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks again!

Default Baseball Scoops

They look good to me. Not at all like the bright white ones I have seen and got a few of in a lot I bought.

Thanks for the input, Fred. My gut feeling is that they are original, but I want to make 100% sure.
