I just added one today myself. Been wanting this card for a while but I was always outbid or the price was through the roof, but thanks to Republicaninmass (Ted) I can now, finally, say I own one!

Nice pickups fellas!

My recent pickup, and with 6% ebay bucks, there may be a few smaller ones that have been on my watchlist

Great pickups from the National. I especially like the Koufax and I'd never seen the Robinson. Thanks for sharing.

A perfect example of the kind of cards I love for my player sets. Decent centering, good color, and CHEAP (10 bucks).

Not really a card pickup but found a great bday present for a friend of mine who is a lifelong Tribe fan.

Complete team issue photo pack of 30 includes Paige, Feller, Boudreau, Doby, Lemon, Greenberg (as GM), etc.

Some pretty good action shots in the set, with the Doby pic I believe being the same as his 1951 Bowman.

Wow, Jason, is that a nice Indians set - and a great gift by a great friend

Just looked it up - that set should have photos of 9 hall of famers - Boudreau, Doby, Feller, Joe Gordon, Greenberg, Lemon, Paige, Veeck, Wynn). That was a golden age for the Indians

On the way.... The Aaron completes the set and if the raw cards look as good as I hope, I'll have some nice upgrades.

I am so excited with this new arrival for August. It was my consolation for not being able to attend the National. Honestly, I consider this the perfect portrait of Mr. Aaron. It's his 1967 Coca-Cola Premium Card. I'll be including this baby in my next order to PSA. Save for a tiny bit or corner wear, it is just right.

Very nice p/u.....While being issued by Coca Cola in conjunction with Dexter Press, I have only ever heard cards from this set referred to as "Dexter Press" cards.

Thanks, guys, for all the well wishes. Cardboard cloud nine! The eBay vendor assessed Hank as Near Mint, and I think he was acceptably close, perhaps EX-MT, though he might be right. Regardless, with these, if you can find a raw card with just a bit of corner wear, the price you pay will be minuscule for such a gem, as it was for me. Same goes for buying gum cards, as we all well know.

Savedfrommyspokes, you are absolutely correct in having always known them as "Dexter Press". While not totally balderdash, since on the backside of the cards, the ONLY source reference is Dexter Press. Be that as it may, Dexter Press merely printed the cards for the Coca-Cola Company. Dexter did not issue the cards at all, but the hobby got it wrong in subsequently referring to the issue as "Dexter Press". This card was strictly part of the massive 1967 Coca-Cola promotion that went on in most major league cities during 1967. Dexter was contracted to make twelve-card premium photo sets for each team that participated, on nice quality photographic card stock. Truly a regional, I could never have gotten Mr. Aaron in my Chicago suburb.

Anyway, I covered these cards in chapter 7 of my recently released book, NEVER CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, entitled, "Things Really Did Go Better With Coca-Cola". PSA began grading them some time in the last 10 years. They look spectacular in the large holder they use for this issue. Ditto for the job SGC does with them. Magnificent over-sized cards.

Thanks again for the congrats. ---Brian Powell

Brian, the Aaron, and I assume the others, look very similar/same to how Beehives were distributed with the pic glued/attached to a nice backing.

Any idea if they are around the same size?

Bee Hives are 4 1/4 by 6 3/4 inch black and white photos of hockey players mounted on 5 3/8 by 8 inch coloured mats (red, blue but most often beige).

Hiya Dale. To answer your good question, no, the 1967 Coca-Cola premiums were not glued to a backing piece of cardboard; rather, they were completely printed on the high quality photographic card stock. Thus, the Coke premiums are like the simulated wood border Bee-Hives from their later years.

According to the Krause Standard Cat, the size of the Coke premiums are 5 1/2" X 7".

Interesting---the Krause Standard Cat lists the set as 1967 Dexter Press. They got it wrong. Their description indeed tells us it's a Coca-Cola premium. However, I don't understand why they would put the printing company before the sponsor for which the cards belong. It would be like calling the Morrell issues "Mirror Chrome", or Hunters, Stahl-Meyer, and Briggs "Milprint".

All to say, the promotion and title of a set belong to the parent company who sponsored and paid the printing company to produce and print trading cards for their promotion.

So you just placed the Aaron on a piece of red cardboard/paper then?

When I first seen it, it looked identical to how Beehives were distributed with the actual pic glued to the backing paper. I was just guessing, thinking maybe these were done the same way.

I appreciate the info, Brian.

Dale, I think you caught on about the 1967 Coca-Cola premium. The scan is from the eBay vendor's listing. He merely placed it on a red background to provide good contrast----so a potential buyer could scrutinize the corners!

Hey buddy, congratulations to you as well in your getting a couple more cards for your 1952 Topps set.

Have a swell day, my friend. ----Brian Powell

Gotcha. Good idea from the seller!

I am slowly picking away at my 52's, and have had some good luck lately picking up some tougher cards. Still need some high dollar ones in the 1 to 310 numbers but hopefully they will come soon?

A couple more arrivals today and 3 more wins last night that I am excited about receiving.
