Default Any one heard of a "Bruck" Brucker

Posted By: Charlysmall

The name on the mitt is bought is hard to read, warn some. But it looks like its stamped Bruck Brucker or Brucken. I have search all day on the net and nothing comes up with that name associated with baseball. Does anyone recognize this baseball players name. I was wanted to get some history on him...

I did a quick search on MLB for historical players and came across these 4 players with the last name that starts with "Bruck":

Fred Bruckbauer Pitcher 1961 - 1961
Earle Brucker Catcher 1948 - 1948
Earle Brucker Catcher 1937 - 1943
Andy Bruckmiller Pitcher 1905 - 1905

it's possible it's just a made up name. some companies would stamp their gloves and bats with fictitious names to give them more of an air of realism without having to pay royalties. how old is the glove?

13. Earl "Bruck" Brucker, George A. Reach. A nice high quality mitt circa the 1930's with an unusual snap wrist strap and very nice ventilation holes on the back of the fingers. The inside lining has light wear and feels good on the hand and there's a neatly written name on the back. Earl played with the Philadelphia A's from 1937-43 and compiled a .290 lifetime batting average. His mitts are considered rare. Very nice condition. Ex/Mt $85

Tks all for the input, think its a Geo. Reach buckleback catchers mitt stamped "Bruck" brucker. My eyes are bad, so I couldn't read the makers stamp, it was mostly worn off. I took a few pictures and if I do it right, they will post here. The bottom pictures shows the worn makers stamp and Bruckers stamp. I think I got a nice auction find here for $2.00. My wife told me I need to sell it, that I don't need another collecting hobby. Since I already collect old wood fishing lures/poles/reels.

So can anyone read the makers stamp? I was thinking it looked like a " R " inside the triangle, which I thought meant Geo. Reach. But I may be wrong.

I have a Reach glove and the stamp looks like yours.

Under the "R", my glove says "Geo. A. Reach Co. Inc"

If you send me an email, I'll send you a picture of my glove.
