Default Glendale Show & Long Beach Flea - Not a bad haul

This last weekend I did the 6 hour drive to L.A. for the Glendale show and the following day the Long Beach Flea...A while back I posted a 1941 chalk statue of an Indianapolis 500 car...At Glendale I got a companion piece...an Indianapolis 500 seat cushion that features the car driven by Billy Arnold who won the 1930 race...so undoubtedly the cushion would have been sold at the 1931 race...For me knowing the year it's from is invaluable!

c1910 Field Hockey Bronze, European, possibly Austrian
9 3/4" tall
16" wide with stick
8 3/8" stick
11 " wide without stick
8 5/8" x 3 3/4" base

On Sunday after walking most of the Long Beach flea I kind of thought that would be it for the weekend and the cushion was my one find...then I came up to a booth with c1910, 9 3/4" tall bronze statue of a field hockey player...I started looking it over and behind up walks John Kanuit..it was his booth...he never sets up there but was holding a booth for someone that wanted the day off...We did some arm wrestling but eventually I bought it...field hockey and all...Hopefully a field hockey piece won't get me thrown off this forum...It's actually pretty dramatic with the stick sticking way out...and the condition is remarkable...I'm amazed the stick has never been repaired...typically the stick would have gotten broken off at some point of it's life...as it sticks out 8" from the body...Neither Kanuit or I have ever seen the piece before...He said he got it in Pasadena...had to have been well cared for

Default Other item

Is that Earl Christy pennant girl item he has hanging out the car window a replica? Was it on linen? Surely it wasn't handpainted and being treated like that.

Default Thanks

Thanks all for the kind words and approval...

swarmee/John , Good eye...that Christy football illustration was a cloth pillow cover....certainly original...printed not painted...I think it was $850.00...It was kind of buried under some other stuff on the table and actually I was the one who suggested hanging it on the window as long as the sun wasn't hitting it...It looks more impressive in person than a photo...

octavio...thanks glad you like...the mustang is in the photo third from the bottom...once a mustang man always a mustang man...

I really didn't see too much exciting at Glendale...there was a mirror with College decals I liked...but not for the $300.00 the seller wanted...nice piece for $100.00...and even then would take up a lot of valuable wall space...
