Default Prince Fielder To Retire - Interesting HR Stat

The Rangers announced that they will hold a press conference with the expectation being that Prince Fielder will retire due to his neck injury. If this is true, a very interesting stat arises. Both Prince Fielder and Cecil Fielder will finish their careers with exactly 319 homers each. Pretty incredible, huh?

It's sad both that Prince is having to retire and that this is as close as father and son have been (albeit only statistically) in a long time.

I loved watching Prince hit the ball at Miller Park. Those balls traveled a long way.

For five years, he and Ryan Braun were the best 1-2 punch in the Majors. Between 2007 and 2011, they had 5,778 at bats, scored 993 runs, 1,723 hits, 348 doubles, 34 triples, 361 home runs, 1,096 RBI. They hit a combined .298 with a slash line of .385 OBP/.558 SLG/.943 OPS.
