Default Tuesday TRIVIA ? ?

Many blame the "Ruth hex" for the Red Sox not winning a World Series (after Ruth was sold to the Yankees) until 2004.

I see it different....I'd prefer to call it the Red Sox "100-year hex"....because in 1904, McGraw and his NY Giants refused to play Boston in the World Series.

In any event, one could make a good argument for a " 3rd hex " .... that occurred at Fenway Park on April 16, 1945.

What happened that Spring day in '45 in Beantown, that most likely prevented the Red Sox from being Champions for quite a few more years ?

Would you be referring to the day they tried out a handful of negro leaguers(including Jackie Robinson) and decided not to sign 'em?

They put Boston baked beans on the menu?
No, actually they gave tryouts to Jackie Robinson and 2 other African-Americans
and decided to pass on them.

If I remember correctly, the Red Sox were also the last team to sign a black player. I may be wrong about that though.

Painesville, Ohio. 20 miles is just an estimate. May be more, may be less.
