Default 1967 Topps Braves team design anomaly

The 1967 Topps baseball set is one of my favorites with its simple, photo-dominated design. For the team cards, however, Topps continued its practice of cropping a photo of the group of players and putting it against a solid-color background. The lone exception was the Atlanta Braves team card, #477, which shows a full photo of Hank Aaron and the gang in the brilliantly sunlit outfield of the old West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium. It's far nicer-looking than the rest of the 1967 team cards and it's more consistent with the design of the base cards. I've always wondered why this is the only team card in the set that looks that way. If anyone knows the backstory, please enlighten me.

Default Braves

Geo, I had noticed this as well when putting this set together. Being a semi high number it was a semi tough card!

Just another one of many anomalies with team cards from the late 1960s Topps sets. The exclusion of the Astros team card from 67 and 68 (as well as several others from 68) are explained anomalies due to apparent copyright issues. Not sure as to the reason why the 67 Braves TC is not consistent with the others. After all of the team card issues in previous years, it is no wonder Topps did not have team cards in their 69 set.

Had also just noticed that when working my '67 set.

The other odd thing that this team card has that others don't is a dwarf in a pink suit.

He is Donald Davidson, the Braves' Traveling Secretary (then know as Director of Team Travel).

I always hated the Cubs team cards with all the floating heads.
