Default Cool Photo of Gibson (Pitt) in action, with Wagner

This is the coolest photo I have seen in years. Besides having a fantastic image of George Gibson, you can see Leach standing to the left and Wagner squatting behind Gibson.

As an aside, this is the first photo auction I've looked at in a while - the prices realized these days are astounding, especially for the big names!

I bid $300ish and I believe I got outbid at the last minute. If it was an 8x10 it goes for $700+. It was like 4x6 (slightly larger). The scene in that pic is almost surreal. Just wish it were a bit larger. But a crystal clear image for sure...

I have a (semi) similar Pirates picture although not as nice. But crystal clear and a lot bigger. Almost 8x10 I believe. One of my favorite pictures that I own. From 1909.

It's an incredible photo.

I bid on it early on, but it didn't take long for it to become clear I wasn't gonna win it for a price I was comfortable spending. Still had fun watching it.

Actually, the auction in general, was interesting. WAY stronger prices for photos than I expected.

Richard.

Hey. Does anyone know if this is Forbes Field or an away game?

Please leave you thoughts. Thanks!

Hey, for those of us who don't collect photographs, what exactly makes this shot so special?

Not an expert by any means but some combination of age, aesthetic, composition, content (Wagner), location (Polo Grounds). Just a cool picture...
