Default The Bambino? Is this is an authentic Babe Ruth autograph?

I know we have some heavy hitters here that know their stuff, so what do y'all think? Authentic Babe Ruth autograph or not? Richard, Chris, David, Travis, Stinson, what's y'alls opinion on this one?

Described by the seller as: "pencil signature of Babe Ruth clipped from an album page and attached to a 3X5 Index card. A nice perfect example of Babe Ruth's signature." Once again, I won't put the certification or lack of certification here so not to bias the crowd.

Looks good to me, it has all the signs of a signature obtined at the stadium or on the street (slightly hurried).

Rhys and Jim

Thanks for the replies

Jim

I don't know what's on the back. It's just one I'm considering picking up and with all the discussions recently concerning good and bad Ruth's I'm trying to figure out how to discern the differences.

Mike,
You telling us that you are considering picking it up did probably give away the fact that if it has TPA with it then we can eliminate the TPA's that we all know are wrong all the time.

That looks like something you would receive as a carnival prize.

LOL. I don't know who would chop up an autograph like that, especially a Ruth, but we've seen it from all the big card companies so I guess it doesn't surprise me.

It was almost definitely done by a child. Before autographs became valuable commodities, to be bought and sold, kids used to do stuff like that quite often.

One of my favorite pieces I have owned was a Reds team ball very carefully signed by a child they copied off of a facsimile ball and tried to make it look real.
