Default The T. F. Healy Collection

Posted By: Steve M.

Attached is a photo from a 1904 Cubs/Giants game. This is the one I have in my collection and has a reference to "The T. F. Healy Collection" (lower right hand corner). I've seen copies of the picture itself so it has been widely reproduced. This appears original to 1904. Does anyone know anything about T. F. Healy?

I don't know anything about Healy, but a postcard with this image was on ebay not long ago.

Very interesting. I missed that one. Same day, same game, different shots. I first thought it was a cropping issue that made them appear different but take a look at the position of the right fielder.

Hmmm...it is different. As soon as I saw your photo it reminded me of the postcard.

With a little googling I didn't find much on TF Healy, but it does appear as though he may have been an 19th century photographer that mainly took photos of landmarks. His photos appeared in a 1930s issue of "Travel" magazine.
