Default Chris Davis Updates:

In his first spring training appearance, the Orioles' Chris Davis was 0-2 with two punchouts.

It's going to be a long, long summer.

Being fair, I will report that he did hit a homer in his next game, but followed it with two more strikeouts the following day.

Can we take nominations for either the 'Adam Dunn' Award for being reigning King of the Three True Outcomes or the 'Dave Lennox' Award for 'airing out' the place at the highest rate?

Only 4 more years left on that contract. For those players wondering why teams aren’t in a hurry to give out 5+ year deals to 30 yo athletes.

UPDATE:

0-5 with 2ks tonight while his teammates totaled 15 hits.

He's now 0-28 this year and is hitless in 49 consecutive ABs...a new record.

Orioles have him under contract for three more $23 Million Dollar seasons after this one.

SAD!

from a different generation...in Lyman Bostock's SABR bio page:

The 1978 season started poorly for Bostock. So poorly, in fact, that he believed he did not deserve the lucrative contract he had just signed, and demanded that Angels owner Gene Autry keep his money until Bostock started earning it. When Autry refused, Bostock gave the money to charity, reportedly a $50,000 sum

0-for-49 ! Ouch ! I think he needs a new hitting coach. Or maybe a vision check. Or a sports psychologist. Etc. I'm rooting for him, I hope the fans give him a standing ovation. He needs confidence.

Default The Davis Quiz

#1 - Does having Chris Davis the opposing team’s lineup increase one’s chances of throwing a no-hitter?

#2 - Under what circumstances would you intentionally walk Chris Davis?

#3 - is it legal for the Orioles to use Chris Davis as a Designated Hitter?

I just find it sad. Kind of reminds me of when Josh Hamilton went to Angels and couldn't stay healthy and couldn't hit anymore. Baseball is better IMO when Crush is crushing and when Hambone was doing the same.

Default PR boost for Baltimore

The silver lining in all of this is all the extra views of Baltimore box scores daily to see if the streak is over.

Yesterday he was foiled by the shift with a line drive to second in his only plate appearance as a pinch hitter by the way.
