Default This is why my girlfriend thinks all card collectors are crazy as hell!!

She was peeking over my shoulder and asking me why one card was $1,200+ and the other card was less than $200. "Because one is graded higher than the other, and one is in a different graders case than the other". She had me click on both auctions. Then she shook her head and laughed. LOL. Us crazy card collectors!

The PSA 8 looks like it could easily be a PSA 8.5 or maybe even a 9 on a good day. If I owned that card, I would send it in for a review (and may even be tempted to crack it out).

The SGC 7 on the other hand is a weak 7. The centering is a bit off and it doesn't have the color that the 8 has (and you have to assume PWCC scanned them both with the same scanner, so it's not the settings).

I know David...I think she was laughing more at the crazy nuances of card collectors. If you think about it, we obsess over what grader the case is in. A millimeter to the left or right makes someone pay $1,000 extra for the same card. We obsess over whether the label is new style or old style. We try to get all the cards in out set graded by the same grader. Heaven forbid if they happen to change the way their label looks!! I am just as guilty as the next guy, I promise!! I was just stating what a non card collector sees us collectors do.

Wow big margins on those two graded cards. Set registries play a big role too.

I think your girlfriend is right, and probably a lot smarter than most collectors too.

I agree, the girlfriend is right. Rare cards I can understand. But when there are 250000 1975 George Bretts.... I don't get the price difference between an 8 and a 10.
