Nice Nellies. During the last few weeks I have been rebuilding my 1950's card collection. In an effort to fund my 71 Bucs memorabilia purchases I sold many of the cards I originally had. As you can see I'm not partial to any one TPG and prefer mid grade cards that I find visibly appealing and affordable. I think the Mantle BVG 4 has great eye appeal and is comparable to the PSA 6 Clemente. for that reason I briefly considered selling the Clemente to upgrade it. I decided against it. The 55 Mays SGC 80 is an upgrade.

Thanks Lou! I have been buying memorabilia for so long I forgot how much I enjoy the 1950s cards.

A Nellie Fox to start the month. Nice looking Nellie for sure!

Mike those are some visually appealing mid-grade cards you landed. A Mantle, Mays and Clemente no less. A great start to the month of March.

So I just got this in the mail. Does anyone think it's worth trying to cross this over to SGC? How is this not higher than 7?

Nice!

Just to continue with what has been talked about in this thread, take a look at this older 6.

Default Chong Modesto

Ever since finding out this little "ugly duckling" existed a few years back (think discovered on board), I've been interested in picking one up. Very happy to add this one, which when in hand is definitely a beauty.

Keep the Jackie as is, nice card. A modest pick-up for me, that eBay x3 bucks is hard to resist:

Definitely not an earth-shaking purchase, but I picked this up last night at a good price. Will be a nice addition to my Aaron collection.

Speaking of Hank Aaron. I just picked up this low grade copy along with a mid-grade Mantle and topped it off with a high-grade JB. Very pleased to add these to my collection.

itjclarke, Awesome score with the 77 Chong Henderson. You don' find those for sale in that grade every day. Congrats.
Peter that Aaron Johnston Cookies is a stunning card. I hope to add one to my collection some day. Congrats.

How is that Aaron a PR-1? Is the back damaged quite a bit or are there creases etc that your pic doesn't show?

Back is pretty clean. The reason for the PSA 1 is a tiny pin hole at the top left of the cap. My kind of PSA 1. Card has no creases. Hard to imagine many better looking PSA 1's of this card.

Nothing crazy but always nice to know you don't have to upgrade. I've been slowly putting Mets team sets together, I hope it doesn't lead to expanding into other subsets

Upgraded my #123 Koufax. I know that by having the grade on the same line plus the serial number indicate that it is an earlier submission - therefore negating my chances of an upgrade to 10.5. Just kidding, just kidding...

My real question is on the font. I have several graded cards that have the grade on the same line but none with that type of font. There is nothing wrong with the case. The card seems to justify the grade, but it was a low feedback seller (48 but 100% - very quick to send shipping information - just seemed like a collector.).

Has anyone seen this? Was this a very early iteration?

Looks to the be the 1st early style from mid90's

Picked up these two in separate auctions this week. Has happy to get the Banks but really excited to acquire the Paige. It has been one of the top cards on my 'attainable for me' want list.

Nice card. That's been on my list forever and a day too, but it's generally just too expensive (even in lower grade). I've been tempted to pickup a 1940's Exhibit Paige for what would be a much more reasonable price. But that '53 is a pretty card.

Really fun to see all these great cards. Had been offline a few weeks with some medical issues but still hoping to reel something in before month's end.

Was a crazy month. Docs thought I had pneumonia, which was unpleasant enough. But when I woke up ten days later barely able to breathe, I found out I had a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism. Still here so can't complain, but full recovery will be slow.

Default Post war HOF Rookies

And with this I complete my Post War HOF rookie collection. Maybe a few upgrades will happen for me over the next few years but it was nice to land the final card I needed this week. Completed the heirloom (in its current incarnation) two weeks before our baby is due!

The challenge will be to find a way to love the baby even more than this card. HUGE pickup!

Thanks, everyone! The Eddie card is a bundle of joy before our bundle of joy.

Thanks so much. All going well. Already back on the basketball court, and preparing to make a HUGE comeback on the April Pickups board.
