Jeff,

Your secretary seems to have slipped a Hal Chase card into this thread.

Is he a Chase fan also?

Jim, he does what he's told.

And Chase had some tangential dealings with the thrown WS...

The one thing I always disliked about the movie, is that they made Attell out as a lackey. Far from it, he was a very, very unsavory fellow. Any fight he showed up at in his post-ring days (including both Dempsey/Tunney bouts) made people quite uneasy.

Beautiful bats, Matt. A wonder to behold.

You do know that the "Joe Jackson" signature on there
isn't Joe's, don't you?

Matt,
Nice bats. What can you add about the two bats at the bottom of the picure? I can't quite make out the name on the middle one--is there a connection to Jackson there?

Frank.. Did Katie sign his contract for him?

Mark.. In the group picture, the bottom two bats are Black Betsy style bats like Joe used. No real connection to Joe however. One has MacDonald on it and the other is Land which I believe is Grover Land who played with Joe on the Naps.
Thanks
Matt

You've got it, Matt...

If you tour the H&B museum / factory in Louisville, there's a place where they have the metal plate signatures from thousands of ballplayers. One is attributed to a lady, the others are all men. Joe's wife signed for him.

H&B has the form that was sent to players for them to sign about 6 or 8 times, so the 'best' of the signatures could be converted to a metal plate to burn the name onto the bat. They have the one Babe Ruth signed on display... Bunches of Ruth signatures on there!

For the guys with out hope... As long as you're not looking exclusively for cards, Black Sox items can still be had cheaply.

This was under $10 last year. 1919 M114
