Default Today At The Card Show

Today at the card show! Jacksonville Florida local monthly show. Surprised to see a dealer who has missed several months and he usually has some good stuff. Then he invites me back behind his table to dig through some extra boxes he brought so you know I had some fun. I also picked up some cards from another dealer who always checks my want-list and picks up cards for me. I mean he marks them up a little but it saves me the time and sometimes hits are hard to find.

I walked in the show with $344 and walked out with $120 but I did buy ten 800 count boxes at $1 each so I spent $214 on cards.

Dealer who bought cards for me from my list:
1953 World on Wheels tough high number card #180 in bad shape.
2 1957 Topps “Target Moon” upgrades
7 1961 Leaf “Famous Discoveries and Adventure” cards all slabbed PSA NM-MT 8 but I’ll just crack them out only $3 each?
16 various 1970s Bazooka Joe cards
5 1980 Topps “You’ll Die Laughing” stickers
4 “unopened” fun packs circa 1980 with “You’ll Die Laughing” cards

3 1962 Topps cards I needed to complete a trade, I bought from another dealer

I went “Behind the table for these”:
5 old postcards all with stamps and messages including Dodgers in the LA Coliseum, Forbes Field, two Yankee Stadium one postmark 1937, then a House of David Baseball Park postmark is 1939.
10 Diamond Matchbook covers which I really don’t know much about. One is a black bordered 1935 with Rabbit Maranville the rest appear to be 1934 with silver borders including Hall of Famers Joe Medwick, Chuck Klein, Lloyd Waner, also HOF umpire Bill Klem who seems to be one of the more expensive cards in the set.
An exhibit card of sort with boxing Gene Tunney and Harry Wells squared up I need to research this card over on the boxing side.
Then hits to my ’47-’66 exhibit baseball Malzone Mathews (spelled correct) Mazeroski Zernial (name in black) also 1952 Yankees team I think I see Mantle lol.
1958 Hires Root Beer Don Newcombe
1961 Post for my sets #116 (box), #142 (company Indians), #177 Alex Grammas print error, then Frank Thomas #193 box my old catalog says $100 in NM for Frank Thomas?
Tough 1963 Jello #146 Al McBean low grade
1961 Topps #406 “Mantle Blasts 565 Ft Home Run I can’t pass up a Mantle lol
1973 Nolan Ryan miscut for $1

Neat cards in there. I sold my Leaf Discoveries PSA 8 #17 for $25 on COMC. So to get them at $3 each (especially when it now costs like $11/card to grade) is solid.

Gotta make it to JAX and Tampa sometime for these shows. Our PCB one probably isn't coming back, so I moved all the inventory I had to Smith's Antique Mall in Destin.

Default 1963 Jell-o

Congrats on the Al McBean. In my opinion, one of the 5 toughest cards in the set.

Always nice to have the bonus invitation to search some boxes that are not set out. Nice pick ups!

Default Older stadium postcards

I love postcards of older stadiums. They seem to have more character. Thanks for posting.
