Default Help with Mantle item. Anyone know what this is?

Hi All:

I wanted to get this in front of as many eyes as possible and with Leon's blessings I hope he will allow me to post this in a few different sections here on Net 54.

I am asking help to see if anyone has seen this Mantle item before. Sorry, I can't afford a quarter to use in the photo.

The story behind it is that it was found in a carton with other Hartland things marked "Original Hartlands" in the "collection" of an owner of one of the incarnations of the Hartland Company.

As an avid Hartland collector I have never seen or heard of anything like this. It is made of material similar to Hartland statues but is solid not hollow as the statues are.

Hopefully someone here has one or has info about it. If so, or you have questions PLMK

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred, I don't know the Hartland area very well but have not seen anything remotely similar before in my search for oddball Mantle stuff. Good luck and hope you're able to identify it!

How do you know it's Mantle? Looks like it could be anybody to me, unless of course it's on the back.

on a serious note, is it some sort of coin? Like those armour coins in 55.
I tried to find if Hartland made coins, other than statues.

Looks closer to Babe Ruth than it does Mantle

Default Looks older

I'm in the camp of those who think that unless there is something on it that identifies it as Mantle, it doesn't really resemble him at all. The uniform style seems much older than the pinstripes of Mantle's era. Also can't recall Mantle wearing that long-sleeved, knit-cuff undershirt, whereas the Babe wore them all the time throughout his career.

Whoever said Chuck Knoblauch (in one of the 20 different placements of this same thread by the OP) has my vote for getting the closest to reality.
