Default 1948 Leaf Rocky Graziano SGC 50 on REA

Nice. Went for $29K last year as part of the Dreier collection. Will be interesting to see if the REA platform can push it to $40K or higher, which is what it will roughly take for the buyer to break even.

Looks like it ended up to be about a break-even proposition for the seller, but the $39K or so price tag is a pretty big bump over the prior sale. This could be largely REA's clout. Hard to say when we are dealing with such a small universe of cards (roughly eight).

Nothing to do with REA per se; the fellow who picked it up is a long-time collector of high end cards who doesn't advertise his presence or collection and doesn't do the chat board thing. I'm not sure if he's even a lurker here.

Adam, no he has never been here let alone lurk. He's a terrific friend and considers the Graziano "our" card which has me thrilled because I get the chance to babysit it. It will not be going back into the hobby any time soon or in the foreseeable future.

I am working on securing one. With the REA one out of circulation, and the Spence copy out of circulation, there aren't a lot of options (I think three or four graded better than 'A'). I still see real upside.
