Default Rip mike sandlock passed away at 100 OLDEST LIVING PLAYER

Mikes Son called me this morning and told me that Mike passed away last night. 100 years and 5 months young!! I will miss his stories and I was proud to call him my friend.. RIP Mike you were a true friend and gentleman. Mike also had a new book that just came out might want to pick up a copy...

i think hes in the 1954 topps set.....you must of gotten to share some nice experiences

Yes I did! I am good friends with his son and got to know him many years ago. I did an inteview with him for another board member who put it up on the Pirates blog a few years ago. The sign on the wall in back of him says Didnt Make The Hall OF Fame But Enjoyed The Ride! If you knew Mike and his humor that sums it all up!

He played 44-46, then not at all until his final season in 53, 7 years later.

He was. I wrote to him in August 2014, and he answered in about a week. He was one of the first guys I got for my project.
