Famous for perhaps the worst trade ever at the end of the 1965 season.

Or for his near Perfect Game. One ball away...and I love reading how he yelled at the umpire in Greek. Sounds like he never got over that call. A few years back I worked with one of his relatives and got some good stories...


Here is my favorite Pappas card, his uncorrected error no signature 67 card...nice and clean -

I remember his wife disappeared without a trace years ago. She was found a couple of years later in her car at the bottom of a lake.

Yes, bad trade but Pappas still had a lot of wins in him.
