Default Topps Sell Sheets

Posted By: John Moran

Anyone have any pictures or copies of Topps sell sheets from 1974 and earlier? Whenever they come up for auction from the topps vault (or an auction house) I save a copy. Great references for # of cards that came per pack. I post everything I have, please post any that you have, thanks JOhn.

Cool stuff John, especially the '51 sheet. While I've got that wrapper I've never seen the box, and still am not quite sure of all the ways '51's were issued- as a bagged set, in candy wrappers, both sets in green wrappers, and the blue backs in the scarcer wrapper (red I think?).
I don't have any Topps sheets to add, but do have this '62 Bell Brand sell sheet:

I have one of those I bought in an auction, but it was not Rosen. There are 5 Connie Macks or Current AllStars in the pack ( can not tell which, but they have a red background so are not team cards) Unfortunatley there are rubber bands holding the two stacks of game cards togehter at the perforations. I have all 5 of the 51 sets, minus the big 3 of the Current All Stars

Al-is there Topps or TCG mentioned anywhere on the packaging? I do not believe there is and I am slowly coming to the conclusion Topps sold their excess stock to a third party who distributed the game/all star cards this way. Not 100% certain but I know they did this with their '52 Baseball cards (sell in bulk to a third party) and they likely also did it for the "Christmas" Rak Paks you see sometimes.

I think all five '51 sets are related and Topps intended for there to be two complete sets of all star standups plus a full complement of team cards. When that became problematic, i.e. not all teams or all stars could be produced, they pulled the plug while the blue backs were in production. This is a theory but it makes sense to me the more I look at it (barring any evidence I don't have, obviously).

David...the packaging has no mention of Topps or the logo. While the rubber bands do no real damage to the game cards, they have played havoc over the years with the full sized cards. Also, odd there would be 5 of them and not 4 or 6. There is a game card basseball diamond included with the pack. I can not see all of it since it is folded, so not sure if it is a real Topps item or an afterthought by whoever packaged it..

Sometime even if they are non Topps or repackaged Topps, they can still be fun. I still like my 73 Puffy Stickers...whatever they are

sold the 51 pack to mr mint at pittsburgh show for 5500
he put in next auction and got 7200
pack definitely had 3 connie macks and 2 team cards
there was no ruth or gehrig...you can see which cards are in there by sliding them over
also the game board
game board is a topps product

David...that is the game board in mine. But all 5 of the big cards have red backgounds, no yellows ( I have the 18 team cards so am familiar with them). And the pack is too tight for a sliding view.

i never opened the pack but that looks like the half you could see
i think the extra cards in the pack were random
couldve been any combination of teams and connie macks
in fact i was told that a blueback pack also exists that had the current all stars as the extra cards
