Default Type 1 photos and other nonsense

Not cards but fun nonetheless. The sliding photos is a rookie image (1947 WS) and the one in Japan with Rachel was taken after his last game played in Japan 1956.

One card I will always regret selling (at the time, I had to) was my PSA 8 1955 Topps Robinson--beautiful card (as all '55 Topps are), and his Dodgers finally triumphed over the Yanks that year at last!

I truly believe his birthday should be a national holiday. Jackie, and guys that followed, like Mays and Aaron, gave black and white kids the opportunity to have the very same heroes. My favorite Tiger will always be Willie Horton, as I was just at that right age (12) in 1965 when he came up to stay, and had 21 homers and was hitting about .306 at the all-star break--"Willie the Wonder," as he came to be known then.

Great timely post!

Larry

I agree, Larry, that Jackie's birthday should be a National Holiday. It's somewhat surprising to me that it has not been already.
