Default November Pickups

Happy to start this one off with my first Old Judge (delivered yesterday but opened this morning) to start what is hopefully a very eventful month! Loved the eye appeal of this one.

Although I already have a nice Walsh port in my collection I couldn't resist this one and had to grab it as well. It has a much more greener tint back drop than my other one which displays more of a bluish tint. Thought that was cool!

Here's my other one. (Shown for comparison)

Won this the other day. Nice Henry A. Johnson back too. Jacobson hit for the cycle on April 17, 1924.

Tony

You got 2 real nice ones there. The Walsh is one of the best looking T206's(in my op) and those are real nice.

Nice Gehrig!
And I love these pickup threads. I only collect certain players I liked back in the day, so I'm not a collector of anything pre war, or even 50's - 60's for that matter. Maybe one day. But for now, love the pics of the pickups

Picked this up from Rob at the Seattle show today. Pinholes + back damage + no creases across the card = my type of card.

And my loupe arrived yesterday; amazing to see an image broken down into dots of colored ink.

Finally picked up my first Collins-McCarthy, and as per usual had to be centered and swell pose.

Tony, those Walsh ports are both beautiful.

Jeff, you never cease to inspire with your pickups. Ever since looking at your collection, I've jut fallen in love with postcards and type photos. I need to read up on David Cycleback's writings on photo authentication, but then I'm going to start looking to incorporate some of those pieces into my collection.

Ruben, I think that qualifies as a nice one! My all-time favorite Gehrig. I will own it sometime this year, though it won't be that nice. Kudos on a great addition!!

November might be a cold month, but this thread is definitely warming up. I will try to temper my enthusiasm, but congrats guys on some great pieces.

...doesn't come up on E-Bay all that often ; short print run.

.....Do any of you Exhibits Card collectors know what those two little dots are on the top edge of Lefty ?...I've seen them on some other Groves but not all of them ....cutting errors ? Please don't say it's yet another variation....this set keeps me broke enough as it is.....

A good night on eBay, picking up the last 2 Series 8 Pelican cards I needed plus one other Series 8 T210 and a few T213 Coupons including the Leach Rochester and the Quinn Baltimore. The E. de Montreville (not to be confused with the tough Series 8 G. de Montreville) was extremely hard to find.

Thanks Jason, I had a huge snipe on it and was determined to get it. It's the first one I've seen in the 5 years I've been collecting T210s.
Nice Manush! Another really tough one, congrats!

I know it is a pre-war board but it is my first and only post-war purchase because it is a iconic card.

So it is my Shriners card show pick up

Really nice card, but why is only SGC 10? Is there back damage?

Great to see you on Saturday, Nelson, and great to see your new Mantle! You should be quite proud of this one (and of course, of that Lajoie too)!!

Hope you all had a good night in Boston on Saturday before the drive home!

Default My First pre-war in quite some time...

Very happy to have found this one closer to my budget levels and added it this week!!!
This finally completes my T207 Cubs team set.
It took me just under ten years to get this far, but I have now completed Cubs team sets in:
T200
T201
T205
T206
T207
Obviously lifted the scan from the auction, but Mr. Miller is on his way!

Great cards guys! Tony love the T206 Walsh's I love the "bluish" back version, just a great contrast with the dark uniform. My contribution is one of my top 5 favorites from T206. Finally got my Matty, I just love this card!

Mr. Miller arrived home this week, and the card presents nicer than the auction scan indicated...very pleased.
Anyone have an idea as to how many of this card exist?
I would love to know. I know it's very scarce, but has there been any work done on the T207 Ward Miller ?

Thanks in advance!

Default Thanks Scott,...

I want to tackle the T202 next, and I just don't know how likely the T204 really is, but the E-cards are certainly on the longer-term radar...are the costs comparable to the T-cards, or are there some real "scarcity traps" amongst the Cubs...

I'm open to suggestions if you or anyone else has fave Cubs E-cards that they recommend or would like to show...probably better for a separate thread, though.
