As pointed out in the first thread on the pre-war board, if that is a surface wrinkle on his cap, it wouldn't qualify for a 5.

With no surface wrinkles that is solid 8.5 and could get a 9.

If a surface wrinkle is visible under a black light then your looking at 5.5. As a collector, these are favorite cards b/c I can afford them. They look like and 8 or 9 with the naked eye.

I looked the card over pretty thoroughly so I feel like I would have seen any surface wrinkle, but who knows. We shall see! I’ll post the grade when I get it!

Half grades do not get issued often. I believe the card grades at an 8, assuming no creases or wrinkles and the card measures correctly.

I agree. I am trying to imagine what would improve that card-- the flaws are miniscule. The area of concern for the surface wrinkle appears in some examples on ebay, at least to my eye, and therefore is likely just a printing anomaly.

Well, there are some touched corners as well, seen from the back. Centering is top notch, though.

With the 'red raspberries' and print line going across...print defects.
Guessing a 7

Not sure about SGC, but with PSA very light surface wrinkles on 5's are more common than you would think. I've seen plenty of them.
