Default O/T - 4th Annual Net54 Football Playoff Pool

With the season ending this evening, it's time for our annual Net54 playoff pool. Tim C. organized it the first two years, and I took over last year. It would be nice if somebody else did it this time, and I'm looking for a volunteer, but if nobody steps forward I guess I can do it again. The rules are pretty simple:

1) All picks must be in one hour before the kickoff of that weekend's first game.
2) Each wild card game is worth 1 point
3) Each conference semi-final is worth 2 points
4) Each conference final is worth 3 points
5) The Superbowl is worth 5 points

Whoever gets the most points will win a beautiful never-been-worn Net54 T-shirt, compliments of Leon. Thanks Leon for providing the prize!

Once the last game is played tonight (Dallas-Washington) you can start posting your picks. Everybody is welcome to play. And hopefully we'll find a volunteer to keep a spreadsheet and post the standings each week. If nobody speaks up by say Wednesday night, I'll do it again this year.

Looks like we have a volunteer to run the pool this year. Thanks Frank! I'll list my picks this morning after I've had a little time to digest the pairings. Good luck to all!

Last year I donated a small football trophy to the winner with their name engraved on it. See link below:

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...t=playoff+pool

I would like to donate another trophy this year to the winner.

And here are my picks:

HOU
GB
SEA
BAL

Thanks for the trophy donation, Phil.

To win it, I guess someone will have to pick GB 4 times.

Default The Czar has a new rule

With a possible total of only 23 points available in this competition, the likelihood of a tie seems to be more than a remote possibility, especially if we get 8000 entries .

I am therefore proposing an over/under tie breaker for the Super Bowl Round only. This will apply only to those with a chance of tying for the title at that point. I expect a rousing "Great idea! Frank" from the minions, and from Phil so that only one trophy will be needed.

Last year's tournament was won by Jeff "Ibuysportsephemera" (I don't think it's even his real last name) who amassed an amazing 22 points. He missed one wild card game and then swept the rest.

I still suspect he found a way to get the results before the games were played! And I don't believe we've had a tie yet, but it could happen.

Yeah, I think for the Super Bowl, we pick total points as a tie-breaker.

Ya'll know my (lack of) interest level in current pro sports but I will almost always help board members have fun on the board. That being said I took the liberty of moving this from the water-cooler section to the front page. Good luck everyone....
