Good luck with your 72 set Ed....my favorite set from the 70s. Many of the common high #s in VG shape can be on ebay in the $3-4 range.

I understand the pain and frustration collecting the tough high numbers in a set....I am trying to finish my 52 set in PSA 5 or better (minus the 311 which is a 1.5), and I am down to needing 65 high #s and 1 low #. Right now, my budget allows for about 2 common high #s a month, so I have a 2020 target date to complete .

I too have always been low grade ..all the way

Its allowed me to complete some great sets - 33 Goudey, 34 Goudey, Batter Up, Play Ball, and almost every Topps set..etc..

now just looking for some cards out of " amusement " -

1964 T stand ups - will consider any

1966T hi #s - will consider any

1967 T hi #s - will consider any

1968 T Game - ...out of boredom. Will consider any

NOTE - looking for lower grade, have lower grade to trade

Currently at 248 for my 52 Topps collection, but I do have to get my set organized to make sure I haven't missed any, which I think is a possibility?

I was given 148 from my Father so I have officially added 100 cards (all low numbers) since I joined this site back in January of 2016.

Just added #277 Wynn and #9 Hogue in PSA 5 to hit the 210 mark on my 1952T 1-310 run. So an even 100 to go. I usually pick up only 2-3 per month so gonna take me a while yet. And still need 3 HOFers (Mays, Doby, Rizzuto) and Pafko for big names. Lots of work to do!

I just added 12 cards last night, including this one. I seen a couple/few cards I wanted but I guess I got carried away!

I still need a Pafko and Rizzuto, to name a few as well, but I am glad to finally knock this Snider off my list.

I never knew that, Al? What is it exactly?

I paid $88.00 for that one, which might be a tad high, but I was getting tired of losing out every time I did try.
I happened to place a bid with seconds to spare and couldn't believe my luck finally changed!

I just purchased the last card for my 1972 Topps baseball set this morning! (the #559 Pete Rose card). I have enjoyed putting this set together, but it is a beast.

Default Partial Sets, groups & Complete set 1952-1972

While I posted that my current auction is open on the main board this morning, most people think of it as a pre-war auction.

I would like to post here to let you know there is a large number(nearly 200 lots) of starter sets, partial sets, groups, singles and complete sets from 1952 Topps thru 1972, along with some Bowman and Fleer.

All can be seen at www.brockelmanauctions.com and registration is on the front page if you are not already registered.

Default new year.......new goals

Happy to say I ventured mostly away from graded cards and am currently working on the 1964 Topps baseball and 1967 Topps baseball set (for my dad). Its going to be fun to put together these raw sets and a challenge I'm sure for some of the cards. May also venture into the 1963 and 66 sets but don't have a single card from those years as of yet. Also going to work on a 64 Topps football set. Just wanted to share and enjoy reading others ventures.

So heres what I'm working on this year
1964 Topps Baseball
1967 Topps Baseball
1977 Topps Baseball
1978 OPC Baseball
1978 Topps Baseball
1979 Topps Baseball
1984 Donruss Baseball

1964 Topps Football

hit me up if anybody has any extras floating around and we can trade etc..

Happy Collecting!!

Robert, is that ALL you have going?? I have also veered to mostly ungraded 60s sets (football right now....getting the itch to build a 60s baseball set---but leary of how many cards are in some of those sets). Some of the "big" cards might be slabbed, but other than that, they are ungraded, and I am loving it! I got on a prewar kick last year (it is now over) and, like a moron, sold off my 2/3 complete 65 baseball set. Wish I had not done that!

Right now I am over halfway finished with a 65 Philadelphia football set. After that, it will probably be another 60s football set and probably a 60s baseball set. I am undecided on which one though. I have actually thought about 67 Topps. About what grade range you going for on your 67?

Awesome Robert!!!! Wow I didn't know you were selling that 65 topps set...ouch. I'm going for vg or better on all cards for the 67 set Robert. Its going to be slow cause I can't see paying high money for the high number cards especially commons. Never made sense to me. They say.....and who are they????...lol, that they might be short print but I also said that of the 65 topps football SP's and there never seemed to be a shortage out there on ebay, etc etc. Anyway sorry to rant. Good to hear from you brother! I think I have a few 65 phillys here at home and if I find em .......they are yours brother. Still have your address and phone number. Take care and hope to hear from you soon

I haven't updated in a while, so here goes. I am up to 196 different cards for my 1962 Topps set. I've traded for most and have a whopping $2 into it.

I bought the Maris for $50 and a lot of probably 50 different from Northviewcats for $42 ($92). I then turned around and traded the Maris for a Baugh RC and Jimmy Brown 2nd year card (1959). From there, I sold the Baugh for $90 after fees/shipping, so am back down to having $2 into the set.

That said, I don't have any of the major stars like Maris, Mantle, Mays, etc. But have several of the Ruth cards, LL cards (Clemente, Koufax, etc.) and several other HOFers (Marichal, Spahn, Brooks Robinson, etc.). So I'm making progress on it.

I also finished the 1974 Topps set, but now I'm going back through and upgrading. I'm having to upgrade about 60 of the cards, including 4-5 HOFers. The majority of them are being upgrading due to creasing, severe centering issues or just being rough (rounded corners, tears on the edge, etc.).

Finally, I bought a nice starter lot of about 400 different 1971 Topps cards. Included about 50 high #s as well as some various stars. Pulled about 20 or so that were creased or had severe centering issues, paper loss, etc. So about halfway down with that set. Haven't started working on it yet.

Matt, I have a bunch of T205 in the trade thread in case you are interested. They are all SGC graded.

I’d sell or trade but I do have a pending bulk deal that might take some / all of them ( there is over 100 of them to choose from). First come first served

14 more to go, a few trades possible that I should be down to 12.

That’s all Topps sets from 1953 to 1980.
It includes low numbered 1952 set too.

It’s over 14,000 complete with just a dozen to go!

Added one more '64 Giants auto (D. Ellsworth) thanks to a contact in CA who saw him at the Fresno Grizzlies Hot Stove Banquet.

Now at 47/60 and the road is getting steeper.

Default 1960 Topps

I haven't got any in months but got that itch to finally finish 1960 Topps Baseball! Been working on it for about 5 years and have a bunch still left to complete but as many can relate it's about filling the set and upgrading later. My whole set is ungraded raw EX-EXMT maybe some NM with nice photos clean back, whole card in tack but I don't go after beaters but still dn't mind a little off center or wrinkle and creases.

All i need are these 10,34,55,73,100,111,112,114,127,128,132,136,138,13 9,140,142,143,147,148,151,153,156,159,163,164,170, 173,174,182,187,193,194,195,196,200,204,208,210,21 2,222,223,227,235,237,239,240,241,242,246,249,250, 258,262,281,282,287,288,291,293,294,296,297,298,29 9,300,302,304,305,308,309,314,315,316,317,318,319, 320,321,322,323,324,325,326,328,330,331,332,333,33 4,335,336,337,338,339,340,341,343,344,345,346,347, 348,349,350,351,353,354,355,356,359,360,361,362,36 4,365,366,368,369,370,371,373,374,375,377,379,381, 382,385,386,387,388,389,390,391,392,393,395,396,39 7,398,401,402,403,405,406,408,409,410,412,413,414, 416,417,419,420,421,422,424,425,427,428,431,432,43 4,435,436,438,440,441,442,443,444,445,446,447,448, 449,450,451,452,453,454,461,462,463,464,471,472,47 3,474,475,476,477,478,479,480,481,482,483,484,485, 486,487,488,489,490,492,493,494,496,497,498,499,50 1,503,504,505,506,507,508,509,510,511,512,513,514, 515,516,517,518,519,520,521,522,523,524,525,526,52 7,528,529,530,531,532,533,534,535,536,537,538,539, 540,541,542,543,544,545,546,547,548,549,550,551,55 2,553,554,555,556,557,558,559,560,561,562,563,564, 565,566,567,568,569,570,571,572
hoping to crack out alot of those cards from the list then move on to another set or 2. I search almost every day for the cards needed!!

Default And then there was one

After a very long struggle, I am just one card away from finishing off the 1967 Topps Baseball set. Unfortunately, that card is number 581, the Tom Seaver rookie. I’m hoping to finally cross that off the list soon.

I actually just posted about this yesterday, but I'm happy to say that Mr. Seaver arrived last month, and my 1967 set is complete.

Congrats! Very cool set. Just curious, do you store this in a binder? I don’t have this set, but I imagine it would look awesome in sheets/binder.

I'm still working on the 55 Bowman baseball set. Down to 34 cards (includes variations). I didn't get to work on it much over the last year, so hopefully I can do more this year.

Just completed the 1958 Topps set...494 cards plus a Bazooka contest card and felt-emblem giveaway card. I had a Maris rookie from when I was a kid in the 1970s and some of the other key cards, but still had to acquire about 160 cards since December. Last card I needed was #255 Bob Turley. Now I'm trying to complete 1959...

Just finished a pretty nice 1975 set. That gives me a 72-75 run. My heart is telling me to start the 1971 set but my brain says “run away and don’t look back”. I am not sure how this battle ends!

I'm currently 90.22% complete with my 1972 Topps Basic set, all PSA. (Warning: this link is scan heavy!) https://www.psacard.com/psasetregist...c/album/122763

My goals changed a little as I learned more about the set, as I became more gainfully employed, and after I got married. Also for some silly reason, I initially wanted the main card of a player to be a the same or higher grade than the In Action card that followed it. Now I don't mind, especially after I submitted a raw Glenn Beckert In Action and it received a 10--I'll just stick with the main Beckert as a 9 and be happy. The main goals that haven't changed are: All cards 8 or better, star cards 9 or better, overall set grade 8.5 or better, no qualifiers. Tried to emphasize centering as the primary regarding condition.

I have an excel spreadsheet that is beyond extensive and nerdy. I know the date I purchased a card in my set, the grade, the serial number, what I paid for it, and whether I should upgrade it later. I can copy and paste the population report and SMR prices from PSA's site into it and it will update. I have a tab that shows what card was printed where on what series and sheet (one * or two **), and I can even visually type in the bars from a PSA ITF 2 of 5 bar code to find out what the actual number is.

Down to 1 card left for 52 Bowman Baseball: Enos Slaughter. Had one in my hand at today's show, but it was a bit too costly. So I'm on ebay today and hope to finish this almost 2 year quest.

Down to 55 cards for Topps 67 baseball too. Mostly commons though I will have to upgrade one or two stars down the road.

Glad you like! I started off doing raw only way back in 1995 or so but I got burned by an eBay seller that brightened his scans and washed out rubber band dents and even staple holes, so I decided to try graded only. I knew it would cost a heck of a lot more, but this set is basically a birth year set (born in '71, but didn't want to tackle the black bordered cards because I knew it would cost even more and I'd never finish) and I wanted to spend the time trying to pick out the higher quality ones that would not completely wipe out my finances. I'll try to make it some sort of family heirloom unless I'm wise enough to dump it for potable water and dried rations before the apocalypse happens.

Your photobucket has some exceptionally tough 72's in it as well. Why not grade?

Down to needing 6 cards to finish my 55 Bowman set. 242, 277, 291, 293, 302, and 307.

Starting a beater 59 Fleer Ted Williams set. Just started with a 13 card lot so have 67 to go. If you have some beaters for sale please let me know.

My first ever foray into the graded world was as part of a group submission last fall, and man, that did not work out as expected. Except for a few centered 1972 'In Action' cards (Vida Blue, Bob Barton, Pops) that came back as 8's and a 9 (Tom Seaver), it left me puzzled. So I'm a bit reluctant at the moment to send in anything else.
