Default Babe Ruth Museum - 1914 Baltimore News

I just toured the birthplace and museum last week and thought I would share a few pictures.

Thanks for sharing. I would take one of those Ruth Baltimore cards in any shape.

Arent the Baltimore "cards" really minor league schedules? I would love to have one of them, but if they are, then they are not his rookie card like some claim.

Most prewar players don't have a rookie card. It seems that everyone is free to make up their own definition and there will never be consensus. I agree with Leon, I would take a Baltimore News Ruth in any condition.

It isn't his rookie card because it's a minor league card.

it's the babe's "prookie!"

and it will always be more valuable/desirable than the 15' rookie imo.

I was there a few years ago but that wonderful card wasn't on display (or I somehow missed it). But it was just a few weeks after the renovation and things were still unsettled. I need to get back there soon.

Love my hometown!

Using the same reasoning, the T206 "cards" are really cigarette ads.

To the general public, that's irrelevant. It's Babe Ruth's earliest baseball card, and that's all that matters. And the fact that it's dated on the back is icing on the cake.

Default Ruth museum

I visited the Ruth museum in Baltimore right after it first opened..... I remember they were selling spots on the wall/stairs for each home run Ruth hit. The most amazing thing ( and this would be about 1980 or so) was the old guy at the counter on the way out said.... sometimes the stars would exchange bats with each other, heres one called Black Betsy......hands it across the counter to my wife, she starts taking some practice swings with it! Man back in those days the hobby was FUN!!!! I checked it out, looked pretty plain to me as I recall. Those were the days.....
