Default Your favorite post war acquisition of 2009

What was your favorite acquisition of 2009? I know there are some auctions in Dec so you may still be waiting...but I thought I would get the ball rolling with mine. I collect type cards and it was a pretty good year. My favorite was this 59 Bazooka Bob Cerv. I didn't appreciate how beautiful this set was until I focused on getting one of them. Happy Holidays to all....

Default Can't pick just one !

I would have to go with these, with the surprise being the 55 Bowman Mantle. I never really thought much of the set until I got this and it is one of my favorites. It is so 1955 and very inventive, a color tv set how cool is that !

I picked up a 68 Topps Plak earlier this year but this just arrived and is my de facto #1 for 2009:

The Topps type list is shrinking...

Default Wow!

Congrats on that 48 Musial. It is incredible, especially given the numerical grade...
That one is high on my wantlist for 2010.

May I ask where you found that one? Ebay, a show, a major auction house?
thanks for sharing the scan

Default Uodate: New Fav for 2009

This just arrived today and I'm gonna call it my fave for 2009. Adam, nice Mick. I always am intrigued by the dude that they have semi-airbrushed out of the background of the card strolling by off to the left of Mickey.

Everything else I picked up that was postwar, which wasn't much, runs a distant second to this. I was really happy Frank and I could reach a deal.

Thanks again, Frank.

Default Have too many to choose from...

Wasn't sure which to pick as I love all of my newley aquired Mantles...so here are a few:

actually upgraded from an 8 to this...youo'd be suprised of the price difference...lol

here is a really sharp PSA 6 that I really enjoy and always wanted one of these in mid to high grade..

and here is a rarity I picked up for a descent price but not cheap...don't these around too often:

and last one!! Not a Mantle...lol Here is a SICK Kaline that I traded for from EarlsWorld on here.

Sorry for posting more than one, but I couldn't resist

I can't decide between these two. As a HUGE Musial Collector, these are by far my favorite cards not only from 2009, but in my entire collection.

Default Jimmy, thanks for sharing...

interesting how Hank and Willie changed their signature over time...I much prefer Willie's old signature to his more modern angled artwork...can't vouch for Ted's as I am not familiar with any changes that may have taken place there... a neat set of 3 you've got there.

Picked this one up for my Campy set. I actually didn't think I'd ever be able to afford one on my limited budget.

Thanks Fred. There is a crease above and to the right of Campy's ear as well as a small one to the right of the B on his hat. I think it's one wrinkle away from a 4. So I'm very content with it.

Awesome cards, unreal Musials!

That Campy is sweet too, I does look like it has a little bit of paper loss on the back and I bet thats why it got the low grade.

If you're talking the spot at the end of Major it's actually a printing defect and I think it's fairly common. No paper loss, just missing ink.
