Default Memory lane

Getting down to the wire in the Memory Lane auction with some amazing vintage cardboard !

On the one hand, good to see super healthy bids so far. Great to see how well cards are doing these days. On the other hand, I am priced out of what I enjoy collecting - bah humbug.

I am a minimum EX5 or better collector and have seen my purchases go down to 2 or 3 cards a year. Just can't afford the decent stuff anymore.

I can't get too excited about the sub-EX grade cards. Maybe I should do some soul searching and realize I need to drop to the grade 1, 2 and 3 level. How many of you are in this boat?

They have a great auction going.
But you should consider collecting cards and not numbers

Leon, you have a special knack or talent for finding nice cards in low end grade holders.

I got tired of searching thru low grade stuff with tape, pinholes, stains, creases and the like. These flaws are not acceptable to me, slab or no slab. Even a fair amount of slabbed EX5 stuff is sub-par in my book and I just pass.

Maybe i should try harder.

Well said Leon, & with such a great example of what you mean. Have you ever given though to having this Cobby regraded?

I probably wouldn't have gotten it graded in the first place (unless selling), so I doubt it . I love low grade cards... just have to be on the lookout for them...

Hi

They have some amazing items on their auction.
The bidding is going strong on most items (at least what I am interested in)
I am not worried about the Grade but like Leon more on the eye appeal.

However, with all that I am close to being out of the auction because the prices on many items are more than I am willing to go. But that is part of the joy of collecting sometimes you get some times you do not.

But we will see what happens in the next few days. But my expectation is to be shut out

I had a VG EX minimum for the longest time, and while I pretty much still have it, I've certainly ended up making exceptions in some cases because the lower grade was hypertechnical and the card was really hard to find, and in some cases to save some money. Haven't regretted any of those buys.

Don’t the Kbat cabinets usually have a stamp that designates them? I’m not sure I have seen one without the stamp
