Default Most home runs by number

I was wondering if anyone knows what number has the most home runs. Lets just stick with hall of famers. I would say number 4, Lou Gehrig(493), mel Ott(511) and also Rogers Hornsby(301) thats 1305 total, may be more hall of famers who wore 4. Can anyone think of any other number worn by hall of famers that has more. Thanks

#44- Aaron 755
McCovey 521

Total 1276. Not too bad.

Edited to add in 1963 Aaron and McCovey each hit 44 home runs to tie for the league lead.

Those 2 are not hall of famers. Those 2 needed to cheat at the game.

Ok i found a good site with all the hall of famers and it listes the number they weared the most.

http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/enterworkflow.do?flowId=playerDetails.playerDetail s&searchType=uniform

I have added up all the players that had number 3 and then 4. 4 beats 3 by alot. 3 has 1,748 and 4 has 2,668. I dont think any number can compare to that.

Yeah 3 players(Reggie,Hank, and Willie McCovey and they come out to be 1839. So for 3 people thats good. But 44 still has the number 4 in it.

Todd,
Yeah somehow i messed up my numbers really bad(my mind is still on how my team lost today in slow pitch softball, the team we lost to, lost last night 14-1 and they beat use 9-8 in 9 innings). Your right, number 3 has a total of 2,318.

I was joking barry. We will give the uniform number award for most home runs to number 44 with a total of 1,839 which beats 3(1,821). I just picked the best 3 players from each number. Ok thats the end of this question, it turned from good to bad.

Using Brock's link to the Hall of Fame (above); and due to my ADD; and the Steelers and Browns not being able to hold on to the football in the wind; here's how the numbers work out:

Uniform #4= 2667 Home Runs, split by 9 HOFers
Uniform #8= 2510 Home Runs, split by 7 HOFers
Uniform #3= 2318 Home Runs, split by 8 HOFers
Uniform #44= 1839 Home Runs, split by 3 HOFers
Uniform #5= 1734 Home Runs, split by 6 HOFers

Those numbers do only use the uniform number a person wore the most, so they could be off a bit.

Paul
