Default **POLL** How will this card grade? Graded VG/EX

T210 of Larkins, Series 2. This card was listed by the seller on eBay as a T206 with a pretty crappy photo. All I could tell was that the red border appeared to be much nicer than most I've seen, with 4 sharp corners and only one corner chip. Now with the card in hand, and you can see on my so-so scans, there is a minor bend through Larkins, another on the border above his head and another in the upper left corner.
So, on to the poll. How will SGC grade this card? Your comments are encouraged. This should be informative, especially for those of us with limited experience. After I have it graded by SGC, I'll post a follow-up.

Has a shot to receive a 40, but more than likely an Sgc30 would be given.
Attractive card regardless of which grade you receive. Nice pick up........

ps- Whoops, just noticed an Sgc30 isn't one of the choices to choose from.
I'll go with a 40 then.

A 30 should have been a choice but i think it looks nice enough to get a 40, which is what I voted.

Tony,
I wonder if I should change the poll? Most of my T210s are VG and have plenty of chipping, rounded corners, so I figured a VG would be an appropriate minimum. There's that inexperience showing up.

No big deal John. I'd let her run. I'm probably harsher than most when assigning grades. Don't listen to me.

Just looking at the card before I saw the choices, I was debating between a 30 and a 40 and decided to go with 40 due to eye appeal.

easy 40 if the discoloration on the front right is just scanner or normal fading and not paper loss.

No paper loss. The card has the typical sheen of a T210. My guess is the discoloration, which is the lack of print dots, came from the manufacturing process. Wonder if other examples have the same issue?

my choice would have been a 30, but 40 was my closest option.

Default Sgc 40

I think it's basically a no-brainer SGC 40. The 2 creases keep it out of 50 land, and the sharp corners and otherwise cleanliness of the card keep it out of 30 land. I did not even realize SGC 30 was not an option. The creasing would have to be more substantial than visible in the scan to drop it below an SGC 40.

Default Poll

I voted 40- but would have voted 30 if the option was available.

Mcmurry, hard to believe those cards received a 30.... they should have been a FR/PR , a 1

in that is the case of how SGC grades these particular cards , id give the original samples an easy 40

Fubar,
I agree The Pierce is a head scratcher at a 30, but I think the Wagner is right where it should be. (I enhanced the scan slightly to emphasize the imperfections)

All I can figure on these cards is that the chipped borders are so common that SGC relaxes the grading a little on the overall set?

30/2 is more likely than the bottom option of your poll. Good luck with the submission.

Remember this? I thought I would bump this thread since the card is on it's way from SGC. Additional comments and votes are welcomed.

I'd say it's on the 30/40 borderline, but considering the overall eye appeal of the card (which I don't think grading companies do enough of) I'd give it a 40.

I think it should be an easy 40. The card is in very good condition. I know TPGs want to be tough but the end result is extremely vague grading in the 10-30 range. The card has has eye appeal somewhere between very good and excellent, of course the vgex grade is reserved for something else. (?)

Edited: PSA 4

I am guessing the 3 that voted a 5 and 5.5 work for PSA

I guess it's a good thing there isn't a Net54 grading service or we would have a bunch of unhappy customers!

Default grade=40

It's a very nice card no matter what the grade is going to be. I'd say a 40.
My collection has a bunch of nice cards with lower grades than I thought , so to me, these grading companies provide a nice holder!
Its the card we buy not the grade I suppose.
