Default Brian

Hi Brian, please do not "out" these auctions. I am worried that my $250,000 bid may not hold up now that everyone has seen them.

Thank you,

Rick

They're clearly marked as reproductions.

I don't see it either.

These are some pretty good fakes though, agreed? I mean after all, I've seen a lot worse.

SGC could learn a thing or two from those gaskets.

Identical bar codes is indicative of consistent grading criteria.

The notches in the top of the holder allow the flip to be altered without cracking the case.

Could all 49,000+ cards graded by SCE be Wagners and Planks?

Despite all these positives (), SCE is facing a legal challenge from Southern California Edison which could affect the future value of these cards.

You have to follow the ebay link (in the OP) and scroll down to the description.

Also, the backs of both cards each have the same weird discoloring around the borders, like a bad skinned job.

The description below "item specfiics" references the cards as reprints and that they are the "same size and thickness as the original cards." Of course, the Plank and Wagner T206s are also apparently the rarest sports cards in the world as well.

"Premium (REP) T206 Wagner, Plank slabed cards. Worlds rarest and most valuable baseball / sports cards.

Same size and thickness as original cards. "

I love the serial number is in the 47,000's. Where are the other 47k cards they've slabbed. Gotta respect putting cardboard inside the slab.

See...this is what happens with literalists v pictorialists: does "much worse" mean "worse than a reprint", or "better than"?

As soon as I typed that I could sense potential for misinterpretation!!!!!

I meant worse meaning "look much more fake" than this one.

I meant that these fakes look kinda real!!!!!!

I hope I cleared that up!

I knew what you meant. I'm still looking for a window seat that has a Wagner and a Plank under the hinges

The interesting thing about these cards is that each version of the card that was sold has the same serial number but the card appears different.

Those actually are pretty realistic looking fakes. Obviously i can't see them up close or hold them. And I am too lazy to look at the actual EBay listing. But the cards themselves do look pretty realistic. The holders...that's a different story.

I understand these are fakes, no question. But my issue is in the fact that SCE only graded the Plank a 1. It clearly deserves at least a 3. That is why I can not see sending any of my cards to them.
