The image was taken from a Larry Fritsch "Card Museum" card. The picture almost looks hand-drawn. Whether the actual card appears this way or if the image was enhanced for presentation is open for debate. On the reverse of the museum card it is stated that Larry purchased the card for a dollar from a stamp dealer in the early 1970's. It also says that it is most likely one of a kind. Estimated value in 1988...$1000.

This is probably the number one card on my wantlist that I will never obtain.

Everything about that looks wrong from the fact it looks like a line drawing to the font look different than any other Colgan. It almost looks like a fantasy piece.

I agree Jay...kinda adds to the mystery. Has anyone ever actually seen this card? There are many rumors about is existence (or non-existence). I've been collecting these for about twelve years but am far from a Colgan's expert; but as Jay stated and I said in my initial post...this doesn't look like any Colgan's that I have ever seen.

that is a legit copy of thorpe, i have seen a thorpe up close and i know of 2 thorpes that exist.

I agree, it does have a somewhat funny look to it, but it is real. There are other cards in the set that have this sort of look also.

i know an Illinois collector that has the Colgan's tin top of Thorpe, but never heard of a red border Thorpe.

When I search, I can only find links to single responses within a thread -- not a link to the entire entire thread.

Educate me if there is a better way, but the only way I know to see an old thread in its entirety is to bump it.

I find only single responses too....but those responses are about 1-2 clicks away from the entire thread if you know how to do that? Not trying to be condescending but that is the way I do it. Once you find "a" post, then the thread is linked to that post and you just click on the thread... Does that make sense?

I see what you mean now....I agree that feature is not good for looking at the whole thread at once....finding stuff is ok but reading all of it at once is impossible, without clicking on each post, unless you bump the whole thread. I agree it could definitely be better. It's not really the "search" part of it, it's the operational part......semantics I guess......but you are correct....

It's pretty simple to see the whole thread when you search. In the website address you will see "message" change it to "thread" and ta-da! The whole thread appears not a bunch of single messages you have to click on.

I agree. It is a common expression to say "2.7% is huge". My friend was a professional backgammon player for a number of years. He used to play in several clubs in NYC with Phil Laak (known as the Unabomber in poker circles), and lots of other famous BG players that most likely no one on this board has heard of.
