Default OK, Where Does This Mantle End?

This is one of the best I have ever seen!

Mile High 6.5 Mantle Topps RC

Went to put my max in, because what the hey, and didn't even get to have that split sec of fun LOL!

$100,000 in the first hour of bidding!

If I was taking bets I would put the over/under at 160k.

Looks better than many 8s, so I will say it at least sells like a PSA 7. So I am going 175k-200k range.

If raw and picking the better looking card for my collection, I would pick it over a tilted 8 that went last year for like 400k.

It is also way better centered than the Goodwin PSA 6 that finished around 135k.

This card is the beating heart of this great hobby. When one is centered like that, it is just a special thing to see and DROOL over.

Awesome card. It will set another record for the grade. There is a very slight tilt and I guess the only thing holding the grade back is the "indent" or "scrape" under the Prtd in USA on the back.

I'll see your $250 and raise you another $100.

Sweet looking card and with 17 days left to bid, I don't think I'll be too far off.

120k on day one. With the night to go. Wow. Really fun to watch the slugfest.

Centered Mickey Mantles are really their whole own thing entirely.

Any thoughts on why it only grade a 6.5?

I see a small indent/scratch on the rear by the "printed" but that's about it for my rookie eyes.

Do the black ink/borders outside the lines so to speak hurt the grade at all?

The PSA 6.5 is now $148,800 with over two weeks to go. Great for the baseball card hobby.

MattyC would be chomping at the bit for this card.

Where has Matt been lately? He's been pretty quiet.

I guess my guesstimate of $350,00 was likely a bit high, but I am curious, with 4 days left, how close it will get to that?

Ends tonight and sitting at about 185k. Looks like I was a little short on my estimate but I don't see it going mugh higher. I've certainly been surprised before though. Bid increments look pretty low for the current price, only 2,500, so I say it goes up a little but still closes under 200k.

I saw his Ruth up for sale a while ago, so I wonder if he moved on to something else and stopped collecting? Hopefully everything is okay with him though.

Is the $188,207.15 the grand total or is this before the auction fees and everything else are added?

The $188k includes the buyer premium (20% I think) which means hammer was approx. $157k.

I hope he's ok also. He hasn't posted since he had Sean list his 52T Mantle on ebay.

I did send him an email but never got a response.

I mentioned this comment to MattyC and he asked me to pass along that he's fine and still active in the hobby. We talk occasionally and I recently posted a couple of cards i got from him in the pickup thread. He has picked up a few very nice Mantles but hasn't had time to post because of a new work project.

Lol, more than it takes to respond to a text. Finding the perfect Mantle for the grade also sounds pretty time consuming.
