Are some Dormand postcards much tougher than others? I've been trying to track down a Johnny Mize for awhile. I finally found one on ebay and was stunned by how much it sold for (over $150).

I know the Hodges used to be quite rare (but now may be one of the most common). But are others like Mize tough?

Paul, I've been collecting these for years and notice that recently, high grade Dormands are off the charts.Not sure why...maybe the supply is drying up. Stengel and Skowron are tuff. The Hodges is a joke now since the market was flooded with the mint cache.Mantles are always strong, but even they have leveled off. I think this issue is quite condition sensitive because of the full bleed photography.

Some Dormands have been considered to be rarer than others. As noted, the Gil Hodges were once considered rare but a recent big find has made them common.

Hi Paul:

I have the set and over the years I have found the Collins with patch, Bauer large auto blank back, Mize blank back, Stengel auto bottom and blank back, Mantle bat on shoulder with grey/magenta sky and Campy the ones seldom seen.

There could well be others with blank backs or variations that I am unaware of but I have been looking for about - well a lot of years.

I like the Bill and Bob's Milwaukee just as well and most of them are very scarce to say the least.

I didn't realize there are two variations on the Mize. What is the other variation, and is it scarce?

The Bill & Bob's are nice too. I have just one -- Mathews. I almost never see them.

Without pulling them out again I seem to recall that the two Mize cards are identical on the front but one has the standard Dormand reverse while the other is a black back.

Yes, I believe it is pretty hard to find. I can't remember when or how I got mine. It could have been ten years ago or more.

Does anyone know who the missing Dodger postcard(#126) was to have depicted? I assume a player who was traded but any info appreciated on this little hole in the set.

Thanks for posting that Dormand postcard of Yankee Stadium. I wasn't aware that it existed.

As far as the Dormand player postcards, I have been working on the set for a couple of years now. I am missing only Skowron to complete my run of players, but I'm nowhere near complete on all the variations.

I believe that some of the scarcity for some players is based on when they joined the Yankees. The set has been given a 1953-55 date and the Yankees that joined the team later in that run seem to be scarcer, guys like Howard, Slaughter, and Konstanty.

For me, Houk, Stengel, and Howard were very tough.

I'm still not covinced that the date of issue on these was 1953. I'd like to find one with a 1952 postmark. Since the Yankees are wearing their 1952 jerseys in the photos, I'm not convinced it took a whole year to issue the cards. Any thoughts on that are appreciated.
