Default 1956 topps baseball pins

Posted By: mikey lowell

how rare are the display boxes for the 1956 topps baseball pins (or "buttons", as topps called them back in the day)? i know that mastro had a counter (ie, full size) display box in their april 2004 auction that sold for $4574 including the buyer's premium, and they touted that one as the only surviving one to the best of their knowledge; what about the smaller, individual boxes that contained the actual pins?? 24 of these smaller boxes (that picture the ted williams pin) were contained within the larger counter display box--i remember seeing one on ebay back in april 2006 that i was outbid on, and couldve sworn i saw another one of these not too long ago--it wasnt on ebay so i'm thinking it was either in a memory lane, mile high or goodwin auction (mastro claims they havent had one of the smaller ones)--any help would be greatly appreciated vis-a-vis the value of one of the smaller boxes and the relative scarcity of them--thanks!
