Anyone notice the healthy E98 prices that just ended on ebay? Seller = cardboardclassicsllc

I won the Lajoie, but bid on a handful of others and was easily outbid. Very big prices! I noticed Dave F finally got his Wagner - I was gonna put in a bid but wasn't even close to ending price. Congrats Dave!

ebayer "cardtype" with a private feedback was high bidder on alot of them.

Rob....I got killed on pretty much everything tongiht...thought I had the Cobb, but ended up the underbidder there as well to typecard whoever he is. He really cleaned house tonight..but not for cheap. I lost 6 of the 7 I went after...like you said, I did get the Wagner...happy to have it..but paid heavily for it. I was hoping to have picked up the Cobb and Wagner for about $2100 total tonight...ha!

prices tend to be stronger when there are a bunch of them or a near set...but "cardtype" paid some ridiculous prices. i wish him the best and hope he can recover half(?) of what he paid on some of them. he should've just bid stronger when it was in mastro.

i think asphaltman got caught up in the bidding fever...

i watched all of those end...strong prices for sure...congrats Dave...nice Wags. I bid on the matty and a few others but got blown out of the water. I liked that cobb with the type on it...kinda cool. didn't aaron755 win most of them?

Aaron755 won the Cobb, Typecard won most everything else it seemed like. Aaron755 almost picked up the E93 Cobb earlier this evening...most be a Cobb collector.

"cardtype" also just won a nice OJ, PSA7 Pinkney, so he/she isn't just after E cards. OJ have been all over the map lately, some weak, some very strong.

I do agree with Quan though, doesn't make much sense that "cardtype" didn't just make a push for the whole ball of wax with Mastro. Maybe he's just one of those rare breeds that just picks up cards through ebay...who knows. It doesn't appear with the prices he paid on everything that he will be looking to do any flipping. I would imagine they are with him to stay..but can't ever tell these days.

Congrats to those of you who were able to snag anything from that group tonight. Those were some pretty insane prices for some pretty rough cards.

A bit of quick math. I was the underbidder on this group when it sold in Mastro last month. It went for $7198 including juice at that point. The cards sold for a combined total of a little over $10,300 individually just now. The seller will have Paypal fees, listing fees, final auction value fees, etc... to contend with, but I'd say that's a fairly nice profit margin.

The surprising part for me was who the winner of most of the cards was. That's what gets me. I suppose the good news is we'll probably be seeing these cards again sometime on down the line.

Crazy, absolutely crazy prices. I sold some much better E98s on ebay and BST (prices were my fault there) not long ago and they were 30s, 40s and 50s and didn't sell for much more than these 10s.
Oh well, cest la vie. I guess a feeding frenzy was responsible. The E98 Tinker price really shocked me, among others...

Well, hardly a need in even saying it..but it would be a pretty safe assumption if/when I am able to complete this set and have to sell it in order to go after something else that some of mine will be "deals" on eBay. I don't ever have anything go for twice what it should...usually I'll only get about 75% of the value...so some deals to be had.

I knew you would at least try for some of those cards. That Wagner Red Background is a nice looking card.

I believe you will complete it soon. When you do finish just sit back and look for an upgrades.

Also, i think those prices show that the E98 set is gaining in popularity. Plenty of H.O.F. and the different colors make it a very nice set to collect. Of course if someone really wants a card they will overpay just to get it, which we all have have done once in our life.

I have been outsniped 3 or 4 times in a row this past week.
And I thought I was putting in some healthy and over-value snipes.

Sometimes when one or two new collectors jump in to work on a set, prices will skew. While these results were strong I wouldn't read too much into it. E98's have always been popular, and are a bit tough, so they generally do well.
