I just received fellow board member, Cycleback's 75 page booklet, Judging the Authenticity of Early Baseball Cards, in the mail today. It is a well-informed excellent resource. Highly recommended.

For some reason it took me a little while to understand that the writing style employed in this presentation is very precise. That is, everything which is stated is accurate and complete. Anything which is not stated does not belong.

I kept trying to put my own ideas and wants into what exists (for a half hour). Then I gave in and accepted the insight offered. It works better that way, but I wish there was less deceit in our hobby.

I've had that book for a few years now and have read it a few times - very thorough and very helpful. Pictoral examples really help show differences between cards, printing styles, etc.

FWIW
