Thanks Guys!
Dan, I'll look into the postcard sleeves. Jeff, great post! I'm going to conclude my Randolph is a 35 - thanks for teaching me how to fish I do like these, but without paying high BIN prices, they definitely take patience as the auctions don't occur frequently. I'm been focused on a handful of players that I wanted an item in my collection, but no football card exists. |

If you're patient, you can pick these up for far, far less than the BINs on ebay. The best deals are usually through AH's when they are sold in lots. jeff |

Here is a link to download a document with a little more detail about the differences between the matchbook sets and a check list of the players -https://storage.googleapis.com/mjmsp...ok%20Types.doc
And not a lineman but a 1938 example . . . . Last edited by revmoran; 07-06-2016 at 08:47 AM. |

Thanks again Jeff.
And Mike - awesome document! That helps me a lot. Thank you. First thing I did was search for "Lavvie Dilweg". He's one of the players on my list that I was pretty sure didn't have a card or a matchbook while an active player and it's looking like that's true. It's been awhile since I've posted and I just started reading again last night. I have a few of these, but I will just start with this one. It's his only card, at least that I know of.
Mailday – 1954 Bowman Ralph Starkey PSA 6

Every Bear Fan's Favorite......
.......Jim McMillen from the '20's and '30's. This is my first post on this side of the Forum and this thread offered up some great items that will insure my return to see more "Stuff". I am a 70 yr old life long Bears fan and loved the Cardinals and have very deep seated contempt for the Bidwell Family for pulling out of the south side. The stock yards did NOT smell that bad!

My dad played for the Cardinals in the last part of the 1927 season - Chamberlin purchased him from the Frankford Yellow Jackets in part because of his kicking skills - and on the line this guy protected him

Great Duke Slater photo Mike. While clearly worthy I doubt he will ever make it into the NFL HOF.

Thank You...
[QUOTE=jefferyepayne;1687994]Welcome, Dennis! That is a fantastic photo. The Bidwell's are nomads that travel from state to state looking for cash. Not a fan at all, either!
Here's a signed photo I think you will like: ...for the compliment. Let me offer you one on the Staley's photo. If that is in your personal collection...you are very fortunate indeed. I'm sure you treasure it!! |

I won these color separation proofs from the Topps Vault for the 1980 Topps John Hannah card. My 2nd Vault Hannah purchase. I wish they had come with the yellow proof, but still, I love them.
For those who can't picture it, here is Hannah's 1980 Topps:

More Topps Vault Hannah fun. My first hobby pickup of 2018 is the film positive for his 79 Topps card. I now have Vault items for his 1978, 79 and 80 cards.

Those are very cool Topps Vault items, Dan! We should do a thread on original art, card proofs, negatives, etc. It's an interesting topic and I'm sure there'd be some great eye candy in it.
