I totally agree. To dam many auctions. Same stuff being sold over and over. If you try to put some stuff in some of these auctions, all they do is cherry pick. There just getting to dam greedy, and all these auctions will collapse sooner or later.

I used to get excited to thumb through the magazines, now I just keep them in their package and toss them out 95% of the time. 15+ magazines / month is a lot.

You know you can call them or email them then and get off their mailing lists. Problem solved. Save them some money, save a tree, save the postman from carrying them, less garbage for you. Win win for everyone.

At Huggins & Scott we give a $10 auction credit for those who "opt out" of the physical catalog. It's not much...but it's something and it helps us out as well.

Yeah, if anything I'd be consigned if I was a consignor. . . . not as a buyer.

As a potential seller in 2020, wish I could figure out the best time to consign to maximize exposure and minimize competition.

That is how it should work. I complained about a certain sketchy AH* on a forum. Somehow they magically got my email and home address and they flooded me with their advertisements.

* I had never used that AH before so someone gave them my info.

Yep, opted out as soon as it was offered. I don't think I miss much since my interests are pretty esoteric anyway.

I agree with Jeff on both scores: an abundance of auctions is an opportunity to score some deals and the good stuff will sell regardless of the # of auctions. There may be 20 1952 Topps Mantles closing this week, but that doesn't mean they're gonna go cheap...

Yeah, and the first 3D Giants pennant offered in a long, long time will bring 1/10 the price of one of those Mantles and people will call the price “crazy.”

I've done this with Huggins and scott. Great company and the only company that offers any discount on not getting magazines

My sense of things is that new vintage finds are probably not keeping up with new hobby entrants. Some of the recent catalogs have contained things that the AH's would not have taken ten years ago, and there are a few that I no longer look through. Still, when I have $$$ to spend, I can always find stuff to buy.
